Obviously we disagree about Scorsese, Mike, but I really like your phrase “fiendishly inconsistent.” Has good energy to it. I also like your choice of Nolan - every one of his films has greatly impressed me.

Oh, please! The Coens deserved it, but Scorsese is just possibly in the 25 best directors alive. He’s fiendishly inconsistent and frequently heavy-handed. Best director alive? I’d vote for the Coens or Christopher Nolan.
