Heath Ledger, 1979-2008

It made me sick and sad to write that headline.

This is the most complete story I’ve seen on this very harsh bolt from the blue. We don’t have all the facts yet, so I will not add to the speculation swirling through the air right now.

This much, however, is clear, whatever the cause of death turns out to be:

We have lost a great talent who had much more to give.

It is beyond tragic that he leaves behind a 2-year-old daughter who will never know him.

That’s all … for now. I will leave the commenting to you.

I agree: He was a great talent. It’s too bad the good ones seem to die young and the Parises, Lindseys and Brittneys of the world get to go on. RIP Heath.

this is indeed a tragedy…it seems that only the good die young in Hollywood, and the Paris Hiltons of teh world live to act stupid another day. It doesn’t seem fair. RIP Heath….you will be missed by friends and fans alike.

Oddly, the AP’s story contained the following: “While not a marquee movie star, Ledger was an award-winning actor…” That reporter’s got a weird definition of “Movie Star”; Heath made his mark on the marquee and then some. So sad to lose him.

The closest thing I can compare this to is how shocked I was when River Phoenix died. I’d followed Ledger;s career since 10 Things I Hate About You. He’s a genuine prescence on screen, and this is way too soon.

i agree that the world has lost a talented soul. i feel for his daughter. i pray for the day the world will realize that drugs and excessive living are not the answer to true happiness.

Such an enormous tragedy. I have met Michelle on several occasions, and I can’t imagine what she must be feeling right now as a young mother. Prayers for all.

I couldn’t agree more how tragic this is… I am still in shock. He was really creating a great name for himself. It will be very bittersweet to watch him in The Dark Knight this summer, knowing that it was one of his last roles.
