Movie dream teams: Scorsese, Beatles and more
Since this is Monday, I thought I would share a few pieces of news that certainly have cheered me up; perhaps they will do the same for you.
Last week Martin Scorsese announced he would be making a documentary about George Harrison, along the lines of his Bob Dylan doc, No Direction Home.
My favorite director working on a movie that deals with my favorite band? COOL! I thought No Direction Home was extremely well done, and I’m not much of a Dylan fan. What makes this project even more enticing is that it will be a theatrical film, and Paul and Ringo will participate. Release date is TBA, although I understand it won’t come out for a few years yet. I will do my best to be patient.
On the acting front, one of my favorite up-and-comers, the adorable Amy Adams, got this nice plug on Hollywood Elsewhere, with a producer claiming that in Disney’s Enchanted, “Adams gives an incredibly complex, detailed performance that it makes the movie seem almost literary — there is a scene when her character first feels anger that brings to mind John Milton. The movie will be gigantic and will make Adams a worldwide household name.”
‘Bout time the rest of the world caught up. Enchanted is due out Nov. 21
Circling back to Scorsese, this is old news, but I can’t let this go uncommented: He will be receiving the Kennedy Center Honors this year, along with Brian Wilson, another of my entertainment heroes. Steve Martin will be an honoree as well. The award-winners don’t perform at the ceremony, which will be shown in December, but just imagine a film directed by Martin Scorsese, written by Steve Martin and with music by Brian Wilson.
Boggles the mind, don’t it?
In my never-ending quest to involve you, the readers, tell me - what film project would be a dream for you that would make you smile endlessly? It can be any combination of stars, stories, or filmmakers.
