Final thoughts
For those of you keeping score — or I guess those of you who weren’t keeping score — I scored 16 out of 24, for 66 percent. Not one of my better years.
Although since three of those predictions were the short films, in which I was going on pure guesswork, I think I’ll discount those three misses and improve my average to 16 out of 21 for 76 percent. There, I feel better!
I missed:
Best Picture — Crash not Brokeback
Original Score — Brokeback not Geisha
Best Song — Pimp not Travellin (Hey, sounds like another song title!)
Sound Mixing—Kong, not Cash
Cinematography: Geisha, not Brokeback
Thank you very much to everyone who logged in and commented. I had great fun live blogging for the first time, even with a fairly lousy show. So Good Night…and Good Luck.

My wife and I wish to congratulate The Middletown Journal on its decision to establish a blog for film critic Eric Robinette. As a long-time friend, past newspaper reporting compatriot and temporary roommate of Eric’s I have been absolutely astounded at the breadth of his knowledge of movies and the film business overall. It never failed to amaze me how – even before he was recognized as a legitimate movie reviewer, and thus was required to pay for his movie tickets — he’d repeatedly go see the same film again … and again … and again if he REALLY liked it. If memory serves me correctly, I believe he BOUGHT tickets to see “Titanicâ€? nine times. His rationale? “It [was] a really good movie.â€?
