The Legends

The Legends, Cincinnati Bengals: The Men, The Deeds, The Consequences (Softcover)

Author: Chick Ludwig

From Orange Frazer Press:

“The Tool, The Rock, The Machine, Cadillac, Master Thief, and Samurai. Ice Man, Sack Man, Piano Man, Demolition Man, Eraserman. Who were they then, and where are they now? Chick Ludwig, long-time Bengals beat writer, answers these questions—and more—while giving the reader all the behind-the-scenes stories he’s never committed to print before.

“Scenes, tales, lore, gritty interviews—here’s the human side of everybody’s favorite players and coaches through nearly four decades of professional football in Cincinnati, accompanied by dozens of photographs.

“From the revolving doors of Paul Brown’s first Cincinnati team to Marvin Lewis’ rebuilding, over 50 legendary Bengal personalities are revealed in all their striped glory.”

Paul Brown: The Rise and Fall and Rise Again of Football’s Most Innovative Coach (Hardcover)

Author: Andrew O’Toole

From Clerisy Press:

“Paul Brown is a football legend, yet few fans know the story of this very private man.

“This book follows Brown’s life and career, from his childhood and college years through his domination as a coach on every major level — high school, collegiate, and pro — to his painful exile from a sport he essentially helped create.

“In relating the story of Paul Brown and his gridiron innovations, Andrew O’Toole tells the story of modern day football.”

THE CHICKSTER WISHES

EVERYONE A SAFE,

HAPPY THANKSGIVING

I HAD THE HONOR of being the keynote speaker at the St. Antoninus Football Banquet at The Meadows in Cincinnati on Tuesday night.

Chick & Martin Ludwig

I’m pictured with my cousin’s son, Martin Ludwig (“My Favorite Martin”), at the banquet. Martin is a fifth-grader who plays offensive guard for the St. A’s “Jaguars.”

My message to the kids was threefold:

• “Every experience you go through in life, all the joys and sorrows, are layers of armor that make you a stronger person.”

• “Look in the mirror and say, ‘I will do my best. No one will out-work me. I CANNOT be stopped!’ “

• “Never, ever, give up on your dreams.”
