‘The Chickster:’ Daddy-o of the radio

FRIDAYS ON WGRR-FM (103.5)

WITH CHRIS & JANEEN …

TUESDAYS ON WONE-AM (980)

WITH MARK SCHLEMMER …

The best part of my week as the Cincinnati Bengals beat writer for the Dayton Daily News during the football season?

Friday mornings and Tuesday afternoons.

On Fridays — yes, the coffee is brewing EARLY! — I have the honor, pleasure and privilege to be interviewed on Cincinnati’s WGRR-FM (103.5) by Chris O’Brien & Janeen Coyle on their “Married With Microphones” radio show.

We tape at 6:15 a.m., and the segment airs at 6:50 a.m. and 8:50 a.m.

I call Chris & Janeen “The First Couple of Cincinnati Radio.”

They’re fantastic!

Do yourself a favor.

Week 8 “Bengals Mash”

For the last several seasons, Chris & Janeen have been doing weekly Bengals parody songs. They do a new one each week, and they write & sing ‘em themselves.

ON TUESDAY AFTERNOONS …

I’m the in-studio guest on SportsTalk 980 WONE-AM in Dayton with host Mark “The Skipper” Schlemmer and producer James “Big Play” Bengel from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

I call “Big Play” my son because we’ve got so much in common … a love for radio, a passion for sports, hair on the chin (just to name a few) and we’re linked by a mutual friend — the lovely, talented, phenomenal, incomparable Elizabeth Borland.

And Schlemmer, well, he’s my best friend. Check out his Web page at…

Goodluck with the radio gigs Chickster! Get yourself on more often! Who’s this Bigplay guy? Do you two shop for pillowcases together? If he’s got so much in common with you then he just might be doing alright. I listen closely to Mark Schlemmer’s show every night, great show, very entertaining.

Hey Popps, thanks for the blog love. I hope you continue to work with us! You forgot some of our other shared passions: great taste in beautiful women, writing, and of course an amazing singing voice! (did i make that last one up?) To Ryan, we do not shop for pillowcases together, we are just friends. -BigPlay ps - What are you doing tuesday night Chick? Im going shopping, and I need shower curtain advise.

I read in Chick’s blog that the general manager of the Texans has ties to Dayton, having attended Meadowdale H.S. What I did not read was that his team has yet to have a winning record!

This Bengals team is so bad I would not want to be a writer for them. How awful that would be with their inept play, their problem children, etc…

The Little Art Theatre in Yellow Springs is offering a free showing of the 1945 film noir classic, "Detour," as a tribute to actress Ann Savage, who died on Christmas Day. The screening will be at 4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 10, at the theater, located at 247 Xenia Avenue (Ohio 68) in Yellow Springs. "Detour," directed by Edgar G.
