“Sister Wives” family being investigated, should bigamy be illegal?
You know what happens when you break the law on TV? The police start snooping around.
Police are investigating the stars of TLC’s new show “Sister Wives” for breaking Utah’s bigamy laws.
The investigation shouldn’t be that difficult seeing that they are an open polygamous family with a TV show.
There is fear that investigation by the Lehi police department of Kody Brown and his four wives will drive other plural families back into the closet.
Brown is only legally married to to Meri Brown, but he calls the three other women featured on his reality show - Janelle, Christine and Robyn - his spouses as well.
Polygamist have long argued that they are misunderstood and that their lifestyle should not be criminalized.
“…When we decided to do this show, we knew there would be risks,” the Brown family said in a statement Tuesday according to the Associated Press . “But for the sake of our family, and most importantly, our kids, we felt it was a risk worth taking.”
