Pop singer says she’s sorry she may have infected partner with HIV

German pop star Nadja Benaissa says she’s sorry she may have infected a partner with HIV.

“I was careless,” the 28-year-old on trial for grievous bodily harm and attempted aggravated assault said according to the Guardian. “I’m sorry from the bottom of my heart.”

The lead singer of No Angels, a top selling group, found out she had HIV at age 17, but still had sex with several men, authorities allege.

Benaissa claims she didn’t infect the man on purpose and was told that it was highly unlikely that she could infect a partner.

Her prosecution has been controversial with some arguing that it demonizes people with HIV and AIDS and the men are also responsibility.

Yeah, but…

Benaissa’s unidentified accuser said he had unprotected sex with her three times.

“You have unleashed a lot of misery into the world,” the 34-year-old told the singer according to the newspaper.
