Should American Idol champ be sued for adultery?
American Idol champ Fantasia Barrino took aspirin and a sleep aid after reading court documents filed by her ex-boyfriend’s wife.
The overdose Monday - a suicide attempt according to a police report posted on TMZ - came because the singer was overwhelmed by media attention and Paula Cook’s allegations, her manager said in a statement Tuesday.
Cook accuses Fantasia of having a “covert adulterous affair” and making a sex tape with her husband, Antwaun Cook. It all happened in North Carolina, a state where adultery is still a crime and those who commit it can be sued.
The 26-year-old’s manager in a statement acknowledged the relationship, but said many of Paula Cook’s claims are false.
Fantasia believed Cook when he said “he was not happy in his marriage and his heart was not in it. She believed him when he told her he and Mrs. Cook were separated late in the summer of 2009,” Brian Dickens said according to the AP.
The singer’s body is recovering, but can her career?

People no longer respect the sanctity of marriage and think it’s a challege to snag a married man or woman. It’s time to give homewreckers a reason NOT to break up a marriage.

I really don’t think another lawsuit which is basically over “physical relations” will help the courts or the sanctity of marriage. You’ve gotta change culture to get results.

I say no to lawsuits.If a husband cheats on his wife it’s his fault not the woman’s, he’s the one who broke the vows not her and vice-versa.

this is absolutely appalling!!!! we have idiots out there killing & kidnapping our children and you all want to worry about a man stepping out on his wife! get real! his wife can sue him! obama wants to build a mosque at ground zero… that a little more important than the sanctity of marriage being cheapened by a cheater! come on people be mad about crap that matters!!!!

Mrs. Cook husband will get his when she gets child support for 4 childrens and spousal support. Not Mrs. Cook needs to go after Barrino and get all she can get its only fair.

When a man has an affair, cheats on his wife and gets the mistress pregnant there is alot of punishment for him, such as divorce, his wife and children hating him and leaving him and he has to pay child support to this mistress for 18 years. The mistress is probably using child support as a money making scheme, she is also responsible for ruining peoples lives and tearing a family apart. I know it takes 2 but why doesnt she get any punishment at all? After all she did do a terrible thing. To the victims, what she did was worse than stealing money from them or very similar. After all she is contributing to a great financial loss for the whole family. There should be a punishment for the mistress instead of just a reward. Her actions should have consequences. She is going to continue sleeping with married men and getting pregnant for child support money and ruining more marriages. She shouldnt be allowed to get away with that. Does anyone see my point of view? If it happens to you, you will.
