Former Miami football star’s accuser makes statement
The family of a woman accusing former Miami University football standout Ben Roethlisberger of sexual assault has issued a statement through its attorneys, according to Union Record in Milledgeville, Ga.
“Their daughter has done the right thing and reported this matter to the police,” a statement from the lawyers reportedly says. “She has been, and will be, available to the authorities to assist them in the criminal investigation. While the matter is under investigation, we ask you to respect her privacy, keep her name out of the press and allow the family space and time to heal.”
The 20-year-old Georgia College student told police Roethlisberger, a Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback from Findlay, assaulted her early Friday, according to the Associated Press.
Roethlisberger has not been charged and denies allegations.

I wish the media would get off of Big Ben! What facts does anyone have? Some of the media already says he needs suspended weather he’s guilty or not! And this is coming from a Bengal fan. Get the FACTS first!!

people really need to catch up on the times. At many places students 18 and over can go in, they just get X’s written on their hands so they can not be served alcohol.

I don’t think Ben should be suspened from the NFL but I also don’t think the two girls are lying. The media has the right to report this story and Ben isn’t that bright anyway so it wouldn’t surprise me if he did assault both of these girls. I hate people assuming every rape victim is a gold digger. I’ll wait for the trial. If ben is guilty he should be forever banned from the NFL and should be in jail for years.

Why is this article titled “Former Miami Football Star” instead of “Current Pittsburgh Steeler”? When they reported on Chris Henry is wasn’t “Former West Virigina Star” it was “Cincinnati Bengal”. Come on, the man has won two Super Bowls and is known more as a Steeler than a Redhawk. The article only mentions that he is a Steeler in passing, and like he is a minor player on the team. A drunken rapist ought to be clearly identified with his current position and staure, just like all of the other NFL players are.

I wonder why this is even a story when he has not even been charged with anything. Allegations are not guilt. Anyone can make an allegation. And if he is never charged for this, I think he should seek counsel on suing her for defamation.

Steve - good point he has not been charge yet. So once he is charged will you change your mind since you based on argument on he hasn’t been charged? I see a pattern and think he will be charged. Remember they did a rape kit on this girl so they have the DNA and I know they are asking Ben for his DNA sample. Of course this isn’t proof unless they find evidence of forced sex.

Like someone else said, a pattern is emerging with this guy. Rumors about his behavior in college, followed by accusations now. He’s not convicted in my mind, but I’m starting to wonder….Some guys think it’s not a a big deal, especially when drinking and not thinking straight. Some guys really don’t “get it” until they are prosecuted.

The former Miami Redhawk player and Steeler QB at 28 yrs of age should have known better ! Roethlisberger isn’t in College any longer . This has gotta be terrible news for the Steeler’s Oragization because Roethlisberger has been accused for the 2nd time within a year of a sexual assault by a woman and than by a 20 yr old college girl . The trafficking of females and young girls and boys for sex in America is on the rise . Hey , this could be our daughter or even our son who was sexually assaulted or allegedly assaulted … it’s time for Professionals to act like Professionals .. and Men to act like Men .

Maybe it is an 18 & up bar & you need bands to drink. Ben has a terrible reputation @ Miami for being disrespectful to girls and is pretty much just a jerk. Goddell has to suspend him for 4 games just for showing signs of thinking his above reproach.

I’ve heard (second hand) alot of unflattering things said about Ben from some former Miami players. This is the second time he’s been accused of this type of behavior. Of course, he could be innocent….

Ben what are you thinking? Two(2)females in 3 months are reporting a sexual assualt. Now your refusing to provide a DNA sample? If I was innocent as you say you say you are, I would be screaming from the highest mountain that I’m innocent and provide the sample. Doesn’t look to good Ben. wow! Your really fell off.
