Swift backlash. Do you kinda hate Taylor Swift?
Kanye West is certainly crazy, but it seems more and more people think maybe he was sort of right at the MTV Video Awards: Taylor Swift might be OK, but she’s not the greatest thing since ice cream.
The Taylor Hater Nation is very large and - according to posts on blogs and Facebook groups like “I hate Taylor Swift,” - they are so over Taylor.
A MTV.com opinion piece, “Why You Shouldn’t Hate On Taylor Swift,” tried to justify Swift’s award winning ways, but readers weren’t having it.
“This article is exactly what annoys me the most about Taylor Swift, she is portrayed as a victim we are supposed to feel sorry for. Her boyfriend broke up with her - poor Taylor. Kanye interrupted her - poor Taylor. She has an awful performance on tv and people critiize her, how dare they - poor Taylor. She is an adult woman worth millions of dollars, with buckets of awards, she doesn’t need my sympathy,” one poster said.
The Haterations caused MTV to write a second item on Swift.
So what do you think? A lot of people obviously like Swift - her record sales are off the charts -, but are all the awards justified.

I think she is a very talented writer. I do like some of her songs, mostly for the lyrics. I also think she is very young and inexperienced. Give her some time before you decide. A lot of these people hate Kristen Stewart (Bella in Twilight) for similar reasons. Good grief, get over yourselves, these are CHILDREN.

She sells millions of albums and has sold out concerts everywhere. That deserves something.

She is Great! Love her music and her ability! She the best role model our younger crowd has these days, so give her some credit for keeping it real and not getting caught up in the hoop-la of stardom.

I agree that she is a talented song writer but she is NOT a good singer at all. She also belongs in the POP category not country!

I think Taylor is GREAT! She has a wonderful voice, and an obvious talent for writing. All of these people are JEALOUS! & green is not a very good color on them!!

Keep in mind that this was for album of the year. She had more number 1 hits on it than the others. So, yes, it was deserving. Plus she wrote her songs and play on instrument be it piano or guitar. She is talented in all degrees. Maybe she wasn’t on her game singing that night but everyone has that happen and I think she was just so excited about singing with one of her heros. She is who she is and doesn’t hide behind crazy outfits and wigs. She’s not a gimmic. Go Taylor.

Ok, I will give Taylor credit with her Record of the Year win because she did sell a ton of albums. However, this is no different than the Milli Vanilli case from 20 years ago. I would guarantee that they use equipment in the studio to make her sound better than she really is. She has sounded horribly off key in every live performance I have seen her do…this is not something that only happened on the Grammys show. The girl is a product of good marketing, excellent sound production, and luck (or money, could go either way). She has enough talent that she can get by, but there are far more deserving musicians and singers out there.

I kind of liked her first couple of songs, but after awhile it gets annoying… just the same crap in different packaging. And null “you better not give no loch ness monster no tree fifty”

She’s a decent writer and has very good stage presence, a natural entertainer. But the girl can’t really sing, let’s face it.

I compare her to Tanya Tucker & Leann Rimes - a rush to stardom as a young woman and then slowly fade away…it’ll happen, she’s not that good.

Felt sorry for Stevie Nicks when they performed together at the Grammies. She knew Taylor was way flat when they tried to sing harmony. Sounded awful…

She is not a child, she is 20 years old, so please stop playing the child card for sympathy. She’s been singing off-key at awards shows since 2007. Her talent doesn’t come close to her hype.

I have heard her perform live when she has sounded great. What about the live performance of “fifteen” she did w/ Miley Sirus? And have seen her on a number of late shows etc. when she has been awesome. I agree that she wasn’t great at the Grammy’s, but I think it was a little bit of nerves, (wouldn’t you be nervous singing w/ Stevie Nicks?). Give her a break…she is just 20 and still training her voice. I think she is talented and is only going to get better. Quit being jealous and be glad that there if finally a talented young girl that can deliver the goods, and keep her moral grounding while she does it!

A true winner would be able to sing on an album AND live in-tune. BEYONCE ALL THE WAY! I wasn’t impressed with Lady Gaga or BEP’s performances. Dave Matthews is a bit too 90’s for me.

I wouldn’t want to spend my hard earned money on a CD made by a young and inexperienced musician. With the money she makes, she could afford the best voice teacher in the country. That is my suggestion.

She’s a pop singer whose songs sometimes have some banjo or steel guitar in the background. Her music is a little creepy. She sings about high school and teenage love like a puppy taken away from its mother too soon. Problem is she isn’t in high school anymore. If her next album isn’t more adult, she’ll be a lot creepy.

I agree with you Dude. Taylor and Stevie sounded bad. Clashed in a really bad way! I think Taylor sounds better than she used to (maybe some vocal training), but she still hits some zingers.

It’s disturbing that you’re even running this article. Why not askt he same about Beyonce? She’s in the same category as far as I’m concerned, or worse as far as over-exposure. If Taylor was black I bet you wouldn’t run this article. Kanye is a racist idiot who hates all white people, especially when they beat out his blad buddies. He’s made that obvious.

I have no idea why Taylor Swift is even in the music business. Her vocal range and therefore her songs are about five notes, so every song sounds exactly the same. And her five notes are always out of tune. She just had a really good marketing team because musically, she stinks.

Taylor is talented, however she is so young that all her songs are basically teen girl love poems and a few of them revisit the same theme (I love you but you love her and she doesn’t deserve you…) Let’s give her a few years to see how she matures. If she’s winning awards in 10 years then we’ll know.

Taylor Swift did not deserve album of the year. How many grown ups do you know that has a TS album. Her music sounds as if its geared towards teeny boppers and shouldnt be in the same category as Beyonce. Im not saying shes not good enough for an award, it should just be in a different league such as “best for teens” sounding album. Who picks the winners anyway?

I personally think she should get another grammy for not whipping Kanye West’s rear end for being a jackass just like our beloved president Obama said. She has earned every penny she had made in music and who doesn’t have good days and bad days, even Elvis did if you pay attention! And btw what can Kanye West actually sing anyway?Taylor earned her spot,my daughter loves her so much she sang her song on myspace kareoke,Rock on Taylor swift! And further more what right does a rap artist have to be on stage with an actually talented singer? What he did was rude ,wake up people, get a clue!Even Jay Lenno pointed it out by saying “what would your mother think about what you did”.Don’t overlook the fact that she had to earn her spot ,it wasn’t luck at all. And…at least she has talent!Kanye West I would love to promote a roast for you! I support Obama for re election!

I don’t know why everyone is so down on Taylor Swift. What has she done to offend you? Nothing!!! I listen to her on the radio, but I don’t know why she isn’t classified as a folk singer, because that’s what she really is. I can picture her, working with John Mayer, Sheryl Crow, Bruce Hornsby, John Mellencamp, etc. in the future. Her music is considered as country crossover, but that just isn’t entirely true- shouldn’t she be considered as reviving modern-day folk music? I think so. Listening to her music, I’m inclined to describe her as she is, a modern-day folk singer. More power to Taylor Swift.

The girl cannot sing. What she does is mostly talk her songs and not very good at that. i think what is doing it for her is that she is pretty and the songs she write are for ‘Tweens’. That is who spends the money on CD’s tho. I do not feel her talent is award worthy but the money she makes probably is.

There are two sure things that came out of the awards fiasco between Taylor Swift and Kenye West. First, it’s obvious that Talor Swift is an awesome singer. The other, just as obvious fact, is that Kenya West is a racist. To jump on stage, take the mic from a white entertainer just so he can promote another performer with his same skin color proves he is a racist.
