“Queen of Hip-Hop Literature” coming to town

Essence Magazine best-selling author Vickie Stringer will help kick off Black History Month with a 6 p.m. book talk and signing with Thursday, Feb. 4, at the Dayton Metro Library, Main Branch Auditorium, 215 E. Third Street, Dayton.

The free event is sponsored by MochaReaders, Dayton Metro Library and Friends of The Library.

Considered the “Queen of Hip-Hop Literature” by some, Stringer, a Columbus resident, will introduce her new novel “Dirtier Than Ever (Simon & Schuster, $25).

The self-described former hustler and bartender served 7 years in federal prison before forming Triple Crown Publications and self-publishing her first novel, “Let That Be The Reason,” in 2001.

Her company grown from a one-woman operation to one that has distributed more than one million books to bookstores and libraries worldwide.
