Website: DJ AM’s death due to accidental overdose
Turntable marvel and would-be ‘drug intervention’ reality show star DJ AM died of an accidental overdose and not suicide, according to aTMZ source.
DJ AM, born Adam Goldstein, developed a dependency of Xanax and other anxiety drugs after he and Travis Barker of Blink-182 survived a plane crash in last September, the website reports.
MTV was to debut Goldstein’s reality show, “Gone Too Far,” in October. In it, he and concerned families staged interventions for drug abusers.
TMZ’s sources indicated that the cause of death will be contributed to crack cocaine and the anxiety drug overdose.
An autopsy conducted Saturday, a day after the celebrity Disc Jockey was found dead, was inconclusive, the Associated Press said Sunday, Aug. 30.
A crack pipe and prescription pills were found in the 36-year-old’s Manhattan apartment.
It may take weeks before toxicology tests results are complete.
Though respected for his deejay skills, Goldstein may be best known for the women who once held his hand.
He has dated singer, actress Mandy Moore and was engaged to reality TV star Nicole Richie. He recently split from another woman.
A slue of celebrities Tweeted about his passing.
“Adam and I were friends since I was 15. He had a heart of gold and was one of the kindest, funniest and most talented men I have ever met,” Paris Hilton wrote.
“I can’t believe this.. i’m in shock. why? why? r.i.p. adam,” Lindsay Lohan wrote on her fairy tale-themed Twitter page.
“DJ AM Rest In Peace…,” P. Diddy wrote.

Get ready for class.
Star of stage and screen Diahann Carroll will kick off the Junior League of Dayton’s 2009-2010 Town Hall series during an appearance named for her book, “The Legs Are The Last To Go: Aging, Acting, Marrying, and Other Things I Learned the Hard Way.”
Carroll, the first black actress to star in her own NBC series, Julia, will appear Thursday, Oct. 1, at the Schuster Center, 1 West Second Street, Dayton.
The League is community group with a mission focused on healthy families.
Tickets are $30 each or $90 for the complete series which also includes former Miss Ohio Jackie Mayer, Sandcastles Program creator M. Gary Neuman and Cedar Cove book series author Debbie Macomber.
Carroll, a breast cancer survivor, also played Dominique Deveraux on “Dynasty” and Myrt in “Carmen Jones.”
She will be the special guest during an invitation only reception Wednesday, Sept. 30 at Think TV. That sparkling event is sponsored by the Junior League and Freund, Freeze and Arnold.
“She’s an incredible woman, very classy ,” said Bill Miller of the legal services firm. “I think she will bring a lot of star power.”
During the 50s nightclub-themed event, partygoers will have the opportunity to meet Carroll and have their photos taken.

As if The View didn’t already have enough estrogen to power an aircraft carrier.
Word on the street (OK, PEOPLE.com) is that mom of eight Kate Gosselin is among the celebrities who will step in as guest host while Elisabeth Hasselbeck is on maternity leave.
Gosselin will appear Sept. 14 and 15, according to PEOPLE.
LaToya Jackson and Meghan McCain will also help out.
Gosselin, the star of “Jon and Kate Plus Eight,” is in the middle of a very publicly televised divorce.

Update: Sunda Croonquist appeared on the “Today Show” Thursday, Aug. 27, to defend her routine.
“It’s my family, it’s my reality,” she said, later adding that it has not always been easily to be in her family.
“A few times I’ve been asked to step out of family photographs. That’s a very crazy feeling,” she said. ” I guess I wasn’t right for the Bat Mitzvah pictures that day.”
Croonquist said she is upset her daughters can’t have their grandmother or spend the holidays with her husband’s family.
“Maybe she doesn’t like Swedes,” she said when asked why that was the case.

Now who doesn’t like a mother-in-law joke?
Apparently not Sunda Croonquist’s mother-in-law.
Ruth Zafrin of Brooklyn has filed a lawsuit against Croonquist, a veteran comedian known to spit out a “take my mother-in-law, please!” joke, The New York Post says.
Croonquist has appeared on Comedy Central.
Zafrin claims Croonquist has spread defamatory and racist lies about her, the newspaper says. Zafrin’s daughter and son-in-law have also had enough and seek damages.
They want Croonquist to remove offensive statements from her routine, website and recordings.

Croonquist, who is black and Swedish, converted to Judaism when she married Zafrin’s son, an attorney.
Croonquist says her jokes are not mean-spirited and reflect her culturally diverse background.
In one joke mentioned in the lawsuit, Croonquist makes a crack about her first visit to her mother-in-law’s home, the post says.
“I walk in, I say, ‘Thank you so much for having me here, Ruthie.’ She says, ‘The pleasure’s all mine, have a seat.’ ” Then, in a loud aside, ‘Harriet, put my pocketbook away.’

Everyone’s favorite plastic surgery-addicted “Working Girl” is working it out in rehab.
Actress Melanie Griffith has checked herself into a rehabilitation faciility, her representative told PEOPLE magazine.
“She is there to reinforce her commitment to stay healthy,” Robin Baum said. “This is part of a routine plan that was designed between her and her doctors years ago.”
The 52 year-old has been in rehab twice before for prescription drug abuse.

What kind of person is capable of murder and mutilation?
Dan Jenkins said not his son.
The prominent Calgary architect told the Las Angeles Times that if his son Ryan Jenkins was guilty in the gruesome death of Jasmine Fiore, the young man was “crazy” and corrupted by fame.
Dan Jenkins said his son would “would faint at the sight of blood.”
“He was not the boy we knew. The boy we knew was not capable of anything remotely close to this act,” Jenkins told the newspaper. “You talk to everyone here who knew him before he went down there and they’ll talk about a wonderful young man, a thoughtful man.”
The father said Ryan Jenkins had fallen into the wrong crowd in LA.
Not sure what kind of celebrity ‘crowd’ endorses strangulation and dismemberment, but this guy is a parent.
He must be going through hell.

Maybe Michael Jackson’s family was on to something when they said The King of Pop was murdered.
The Los Angeles County coroner has ruled Michael Jackson’s death a homicide, according to Associated Press sources.
Dr. Conrad Murray’s time might just be running out.
The cardiologist, the target of a manslaughter probe headed by Los Angeles police, is the doctor who unsuccessfully tried to revive Michael Jackson with CPR. The King of Pop died June 25.
He reportedly told agents he administered the drugs believed to have killed Jackson.
Forensic tests found the powerful anesthetic propofol in Jackson’s systemalong with two sedatives, the AP reports.

The “Megan Wants a Millionaire” contestant has been found dead in a motel room 90 minutes east of Vancouver, according to the Canadian Press.
Jenkins, a former Calgary real estate developer and VH1 reality show contestant, was wanted for the murder of his ex-wife Jasmine Fiore.
Authorities say he strangled Fiore and mutilating her body, removing her fingers and teeth.
Her body was stuffed inside a suitcase and placed in a dumpster. It was discovered Aug. 15.
The 28-year-old former swimsuit model was identified by serial numbers in her breast implants.

Police identified the slain swimsuit model using the serial number on her breast implants, according to the Associated Press.
Fiore’s ex-husband, reality show contestant Ryan Alexander Jenkins, has been charged in her murder.
Jenkins is now on the run, accused of mutilating her Fiore’s body. Police revealed Thursday that her fingers and teeth were removed.
Her body was stuffed inside a suitcase and placed in a dumpster. It was discovered Aug. 15.
Jenkins appeared on the now canned show “Megan Wants a Millionaire.”

With his checkered past, a lot of people are wondering how exactly accused swimsuit model murder Ryan Alexander Jenkins got on VH1’s “Megan Wants a Millionaire.”
But producers of the show about an all-American skanky girl looking for a sugar daddy say they checked out Jenkins’ background.
Apparently they didn’t look so hard.
According to the Calgary Sun, he was accused of assaulting a girlfriend in 2005.
He was found guilty of assault, ordered to take psychological counseling for domestic violence and treatment for sex addiction.
Jenkins is now on the run, accused of murdering his 28-year-old ex-wife, mutilating her body and stuffing it in a suitcase. Police revealed Thursday that Jasmine Fiore’s fingers and teeth were removed.
The model married Jenkins, who is worth about $2.5 million, in March after production on “Megan Wants a Millionaire” was complete. The marriage was annulled in May.
The show was cancelled after Fiore was found dead Saturday and police announced they were looking for Jenkins.
He allegedly got violent with Fiore during their brief relationship.
Jenkins was charged in June in Clark County, Nev., with a misdemeanor count of “battery constituting domestic violence” for allegedly hitting Fiore in the arm and will be tried in December, the Associated Press says.
VH1’s ‘Love’ reality dating shows have been notoriously nuts since Flavor Flav handed out his first clock on “Flavor of Love.”
There is spitting, fighting and enough F-bombs to sink a fleet.
51 Minds, the production company, behind the highly rated shows, is investigating what went wrong and how Jenkins slipped pass, the AP says.
But seriously, a show about nut cases is bound to attract nut cases.

Kate 2.0 left her job at Star magazine after meeting and falling for Gosselin in July.
(The naughty reporter was covering the story of Jon’s broken marriage.)
In her interview with Life & Style, Major calls Jon a “dirtbag.”
When his kids were asleep, he’d sneak out to pick Major up at a neighbor’s house and drive her to his home for hanky-panky, the magazine reports.
” I was shocked and said, ‘No, I don’t feel right doing that. What if the kids wake up?’ He was like, ‘They’re not going to notice, they’re not going to see anything.’ He wasn’t nervous about it —I was. Looking back, it was all pretty much sexual. That’s what he had in mind,” she said.

“So You Think You Can Dance” choreographer Alex Da Silva will have to swivel his hips behind bars.
The 41-year-old salsa king was arrested in his Hollywood home Tuesday, Aug. 18, on charges he sexually assaulted four female dancers between 2002 and March, the Los Angeles Times reports.
Bail has been set at $6.2 million.
Da Silva was arrested in April related to the allegations.
He was jailed for a short time and released without charges.

The 41-year-old French Canadian underwent in vitro fertilization in New York.
Her 8-year-old son Rene-Charles was also conceived with the help of science.

That and other not at all exciting revolutions are revealed in a surprisingly lame sexy tape posted yesterday on Gawker.com .

The video proves that just because someone is interesting, doesn’t guarantee they will be all that interesting in the buff.
It shows “Grey’s Anatomy” actor Eric Dane (McSteamy), his actress wife Rebecca Gayheart and former Miss Teen USA Kari Ann Peniche naked, laughing, drinking and talking about things that may be funny at a frat party.
OK, lots of people think the “what’s your porn name” game is hilarious. (Typically it is the name of your first pet combined with the name of the street you grew up on. Call me Charlie Hough.)
According to TMZ, Peniche says the video was shot in her apartment three years ago and no bodily fluids were exchanged during its taping.
No sex is shown, but there may have been SOMETHING going on that night.
At one point in the not so steamy film, Gayheart says she has to lay down in the bed because she’s “very high.”
How did the tape get out?
Peniche says that her former roommate Mindy McCready stole the tape from her computer’s hard drive. Peniche and the singer ended their friendship following a fight about money, the TMZ story says.
Dane, who married Gayheart in 2004, apparently has rights to the video and it was not to be released.
Then again, the video was also seized during the LA police department investigation into Peniche’s alleged sex-for-hire operation.
The 25-year-old was stripped of her Miss Teen USA crown in 2002 after appearing as naked as the day she was born in Playboy magazine.

The awesome singer and horrid rule breaker was arrested Friday, Aug 14, for suspicion of driving under the influence of drink or drugs, the BBC said.
The troubled pop icon was arrested after his Land Rover was in collision with a seven-ton truck.
The 46-year-old was later released from police custody without charges. He he was banned from driving for two years in 2007.

Michael Phelps wasn’t the fast one this time.
The 14-time Olympic gold medalist is not to blame for a three-car accident Thursday night, Aug. 13, the Baltimore Sun reports quoting police.
The newspaper said the accident was caused when the driver of a Honda Accord sped through a red light and hit a Cadillac Escalade driven by Phelps.
The Cadillac, Honda and a parked car were seriously damaged.
Phelps was apparently shaken, but he and his passengers were uninjured. The Honda driver was taken to a Baltimore hospital as a precaution.
Police are trying to determine if one of the drivers ran a red light. There was no indication that booze contributed to the collision, the Sun reports.
The 24-year-old swimming great was arrested in 2004 on a driving while under the influence of alcohol charge. You’ll probably remember those bong photos that got him in hot water.

Springfield R&B singer John Legend may have to make room on the music charts for his mom.
Phyllis Elaine Stephens, Legend’s mom, will perform her first major gospel concert at Canaan Missionary Baptist Church, 5191 Hoover Avenue, Dayton, at 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 12, said Diana L. Branham, owner of Trotwood’s D&D Wedding and Event Planning.
The show will also feature performances by Women of Worship Dance and Mime troupe from Wayman AME Church and choirs from Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church and True Christian Missionary Baptist.
Stephens will sing songs featured on her upcoming album.
Branham said she didn’t know if Legend, who was born John Stephens, will make an appearance.
“He might show up, which is why I am saying ‘Heaven only knows,’ ” she said.
Branham said Stephens, a childhood friend, has always been a talented singer. The Stephens family is very musical, she added.
“It would not be a John Legend if there was not a Phyllis Stephens,” Branham said.

Sure La Toya is weird - come on, just look at her -, but she’s sort of loveable too.

Kourtney Kardashian, Kim and Khloe’s older sister, is pregnant with her first child, Eonline says.
There is no word if the baby daddy is Kourtney’s ex (we think) boyfriend Scott Disick. The mom-to-be is set to star in the E reality show Kourtney and Khloe Take Miami, which debuts Sunday, Aug. 16.

You know how we know Ashley Greene is not really a real vampire? The camera captured her naked image.
The “Twilight” actress is fighting back against those who posted nude photos of her on the information super highway.
A lawyer for the 22-year-old recent Teen Choice fresh face award winner said anyone who posts her naughty pics will face the wrath of the blood-sucking legal system.
“The photos in question, which appear to be of our client, are illegal and are being unlawfully displayed,” according to a statement by the lawyer posted on CBSNews.com. “Our client intends to take legal action.”
Celebrity blogger Perez Hilton posted the photos on his website earlier this week and asked readers if they thought they were real. The photos have since been removed at Greene’s lawyer’s request.
The photos were apparently taken when Greene was 19. She plays Alice Cullen, a premonition seeing vampire in the Twilight movies.
In other Greene news, earlier this week, TMZ says it caught her sucking face with “Gossip Girl” star beefcake Chace Crawford.

Here’s a lesson for anyone delivering an electric toothbrush to someone on house arrest: batteries make it go ‘brrrrrr’ not heroin.
Cameron Douglas’ girlfriend was arrested Monday, Aug.10, after official says she tried to smuggle Douglas heroin hidden in an electric toothbrush, The New York Daily News reports Aug. 12.
Kelly Sott, 31, was busted after a security guard became suspicious. Nineteen bags of heroin were found in the toothbrush’s battery compartment, the Daily News article says.
Douglas, the son of Oscar winner Michael Douglas, was arrested July 28 and on accusations he deals large quantities of methamphetamine.
A criminal complaint made public last week alleges that New York drug users paid the 30-year-old tens of thousands of dollars for the drugs.
Cameron Douglas has acted in movies including 2003’s “It Runs in the Family,” starring his father and grandfather Kirk Douglas.

Not every bird can soar and not every ‘Real Housewife’ can hold on to a house.
Lisa Wu-Hartwell of Bravo’s hit reality show “Real Housewives of Atlanta” no longer has her mansion.
According to TMZ, the high-strung socialite and her hubby, former Oakland Raiders linebacker Edgerton Hartwell, lost their $2.9 million home last week.
The bank foreclosed on the home and sold it when the couple defaulted on their loan.
Wu-Hartwell’s rep told TMZ that there was a failed attempt to restructure the loan with the lender. The rep said the couple owns a new house on 10 acres of land and is doing fine.

Olivia Newton-John’s ex-boyfriend may not be sleeping with the fishes after all.
According to Britain’s Daily Mail, a fax has confirmed Patrick McDermott is alive and kicking.
He may even have a margarita in hand.
Don’t know if you can believe a fax - come on, it is a fax - but the Daily Mail claims private “investigators” believe McDermott is living in Mexico and wants everyone to leave him alone.
McDermott, a cameraman, hasn’t been seen since leaving on a fishing expedition around San Pedro, Calif., in 2005.
Police thought he fell over, but there was speculations that broker-than-broke McDermott faked the whole thing to escape his debt.
Newton-John, the star of “Grease,” has ‘shaped up’ her love life.

Bristol Palin’s baby daddy showed up to the “Teen Choice Awards” Sunday, Aug. 9, holding hands with ‘D-list’ queen Kathy Griffin.
There was some posing and a little kiss, but chances are unfortunately slim a relationship will work for the 48-year-old comedian and the 19-year-old Alaskan cad.

A weepy Kate Gosselin, star of TLC’s “Jon & Kate Plus Eight,” told Today Show host Meredith Vieira that she often feels like a failure and misses the Jon she fell in love with.
Gosselin said she still wears her wedding ring for the children and not because she holds out hope of rekindling a relationship with Jon.
“I don’t want to upset them,” she said of the children. “I don’t want to shock them. I’ve walked slowly through this with them. As they’ve asked questions, I’ve answered them.”
Gosselin said her kids know that the ring is her “married to daddy ring.”
“When the time is right, I’ll take it off,” she said.
Gosselin said that her house has been more peaceful and happy since her estranged husband moved out.
“Clearly his goals are not my goals,” Gosselin said.
The Gosselins told the world they were splitting up on Monday, June 22. Jon has moved on and is now dating a 22-year-old former party girl.
Kate told Vieira that the decision to end the marriage was mutual and gradual and not initiated by her as Jon has indicated.
“Clearly, we have totally different takes on what happened,” she said. “Nobody is perfect. I was not perfect. Obviously, it takes two… What would I go back and change? It is hard to say.”
In a second segment, Gosselin denied rumors that she had an affair with her head of security.

Judge Paula Abdul, everyone’s favorite pint-sized pop star, announced last night that she won’t return to “American Idol.”
Abdul broke the news to fans on her verified Twitter page.

She goes on to say:

Pope cuts record deal with Geffen Records
Make room Britney, Rihanna and Madonna, The Pope may just go ‘platinum’ in time for Christmas.
Pope Benedict XVI has signed a Geffen Records deal and will release an album by Christmas, according to The United Kingdom’s Telegraph
His Holiness will sing litanies, chant and recite prayers in Portuguese, Latin, French, German and Italian.
The album was recorded in St.Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican, the newspaper reports.
Geffen Records is one of three Universal Music Group companies operated as the Interscope-Geffen-A&M label group.
The Pope’s label mates include 50 Cents, Mary J. Blige, Eminem and Fergie.

She tweeted the following at around 10:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 4:

She goes on to say:

Will ‘Idol’ replace her? Or will they return to their 3 judge format? Will this lead Ryan Seacrest to leave the show since he will no longer have Paula to soften the wrath of Simon Cowell? It’s really too soon to tell how this might affect the future of ‘American Idol.’

Ryan O’Neal hit on his own daughter at Farrah’s funeral. Gross!
Grief can make you do some pretty strange things.
It apparently made actor Ryan O’Neal think his own daughter was a hot Swedish woman.
Ryan O’Neal tells Vanity Fair magazine that he mistakenly hit on daughter Tatum at Farrah Fawcett’s funeral.
Here’s the passage from the magazine’s September cover story “Beautiful People, Ugly Choices.” It hits stand August 11.
“I had just put the casket in the hearse and I was watching it drive away when a beautiful blonde woman comes up and embraces me,” Ryan told me. “I said to her, ‘You have a drink on you? You have a car?’ She said, ‘Daddy, it’s me—Tatum!’ I was just trying to be funny with a strange Swedish woman, and it’s my daughter. It’s so sick.”
Oops!
Most fathers think their little girls are cute. Few think they are fine.
O’Neal comes across as a jerk in other ways. Apparently he didn’t like Farrah’s hot flashes.

O’Neal cites several reasons for his breakup with Fawcett, starting with menopause. “I believe Farrah was going through some kind of life change,” he says. “I didn’t have a change of life. I was always a jerk. But they’re hard work, these divas; I was sick of it, and I was unappreciated. I just don’t think she liked me very much. So I excused myself, and I was lucky enough to meet this young girl. She was more a daughter to me than a lover, and my own daughter had flown the coop, so here was this replacement.”
Fawcett, O’Neal’s longtime love, died of cancer in June.
The iconic “Charlie’s Angels” was 62.

TweetScreech banned from ‘Save by the Bell’ reunion shoot
If you’ve followed Dustin Diamond’s career even a little, you’d know why the other Bayside High kids didn’t want him around for their reunion.
Diamond, who played nerdy, mcnerdy “Screech” on “Saved by the Bell,” was absent during the cast photo session with People Magazine.
The rest of the gang didn’t want him around because the rude porn star is writing a tell-all book, the New York Daily News reports.
Cast members shunned Diamond for very good reason. His sex tape and “Celebrity Fit Club” appearance brought shame to his alma mater.
Compared to Diamond, Lark Voorhies, Mario Lopez, Tiffani Thiessen, Mark-Paul Gosselaar and Elizabeth Berkley are superstars.
Lopez recently made a stop in Dayton for an event at Hammerjax.

This never would have happened in Lake Wobegon.
A man and a woman broke into Garrison Keillor’s bookstore in St. Paul, Minn., Thursday, July 30.
The pair took $3,000 from the registers and safe, and smashed a window in the front door of the store owned by the creator of the long-running radio show “Prairie Home Companion” and the idyllic fictional town of Lake Wobegon.
The safe was later found, according to the Pioneer Press. It was empty of valuables.
The store, Common Goods Books, alerted the public via Twitter, tweeting “If anyone saw a goateed loser in long shorts and Longhorns cap carrying a safe at 1:20 last night, plz call the St. Paul PD.” The store also posted the surveillance video on the store’s blog.
Keillor stopped by the store last Thursday, watched the surveillance video and gave his employees a “keep-up-the-fight” fist pump upon leaving. No signs yet of the goateed loser.

Mark “Marky Mark” Wahlberg married longtime girlfriend, model Rhea Durham, over the weekend in Beverly Hills, the Associated Press says.
Wahlberg has made a name for himself as an actor since his Funky Bunch days. He’s starred in many a hit, including “Boogie Night,” “The Perfect Storm,” “Three Kings” and “The Departed.”
Still one can’t help recall his famous underwear shoot with Annie Leibovitz and the video for the song “Good Vibrations. Rhea is a lucky lady.

The Octomom admits in the US Weekly Magazine on stands now what you’d think anyone who has ever changed a diaper could guess.
Have eight babies at once is like being jumped into a gang especially when you are single, unemployed and already raising six other children.
“I think it was a mistake - in terms of the well-being of the octupets and of my other kids. I can’t give myself to all of them 100 percent. I wish I could,” Nadya Suleman says according to a Monday, Aug. 3, segment on NBC’s “Today” featuring US Weekly staff editor Lindsay Powers.
Suleman gave birth to the world’s longest-surviving set of octuplets on Jan. 26.
Despite four nannies and a dozen helpers, it has been a tough road for the Octomom, Powers said.
“She says she lives her life in a could have, would have, should have mind set,” Powers said on Today. “She never would have fathomed having octuplets if she knew it would be this difficult to raise them.”
Octo OOPS!
No shocker here, between raising her kids and writing her memoirs, Suleman gets very little sleep.
“She doesn’t even have time to go gorcery shopping,” Powers said. “She said she’s like a prison in her house surrounded by security cameras because every time she goes out she is taunted.”
Last month she signed agreements for each of her 14 children to earn $250 a day to star in a reality television show.
