‘Davestock 2009’ Chappelle stages surprise concert
Yellow Springs comedian Dave Chappelle harnessed the power of the interweb to draw thousands to Portland’s Pioneer Courthouse Square for a spontaneous concert earlier today, Wednesday, July 14, according to the The Oregonian.

Word spread about the concert through text message and the social networking sites Twitter and Facebook.
Chappelle showed up just before 1 a.m. and entertained the masses for about 2 hours, the newspaper reports.
“It’s like Woodstock,” 25-year-old college student Keith Kunis said. “Davestock 2009.”
Chappelle lives part of the time in Yellow Springs. See video above.

Why didn’t Dave go to Wilmington and do his show for free for the DHL people like Leno and Drew Hastings did? Or why not Dayton seeing he lives so close to us. Why Portland. What happen to his free shows at Wileys. He use to show up for the last shows on Fri/Sat and do new stuff at Wileys, After the other comedians were done,What happen there?By Bill

I saw him do a blues fest in Yellow Springs about two years ago with Eryka Badu…What a great show! Hopefully that will happen again soon!By KITTEN

I love the fact that Dave can hang out in front of Dino’s in Yellow Springs and NO ONE bothers him! He is very down to earth and a great entertainer! His show is still on 45.2 on the weekends.By what up

He has family here in Portland, and has spent a bit of time here before. He was in town for about five days, and yesterday started making jokes about it. It was a great time, even if he was almost impossible to hear for most of it.By mechengr9

I was visiting Yellow Springs a couple of weeks ago when I heard someone skateboarding in the road coming up behind me. I turned around and it was Dave himself. He just smiled and said “what’s up?”By Comedian

Dave is okay if you like the same old routine…I not saying he’s not funny but after a million white people, crack head, and pimp jokes it is about time he creates new material.
