Katt Williams arrested in New York
Comedian Katt Williams was arrested on weapons charges in midtown Manhattan after police say they pulled him over for driving a car without license plates.
The 35-year-old performer — who was born in Cincinnati and raised in Dayton — was released on bail Thursday in time to make it to his show at Carnegie Hall. He told the audience that he “just got out of jail.”
Police say a handgun was found in Williams’ car after he was stopped for the alleged traffic violation.
Williams is best known for his role in the movie “Friday After Next” and for his appearances in rap videos. He also voices “A Pimp Named Slickback” in “The Boondocks” animated television series. He last came home in April 2007, performing at the Nutter Center on his “Pimp Chronicles 2” tour, the second highest grossing comedy act in the nation that year, according to Billboard.
In May 2008, U.S. Marshals found a Dayton man wanted in a drug-related shooting hiding at Williams’ California home. Robert McGhee, arrested for allegedly shooting and paralyzing a man during a drug deal gone bad, was described at the time as Williams’ distant cousin — Williams was not implicated in that incident, and later issued a statement that he and McGhee are not related at all.

Okay, Katt messed up- he should know better, but why does the DDN have to mention the guy who was arrested claiming to be his cousin? That had absolutely nothing to do with the story! They are just attempting to show a “criminal connection” Not appropriate I say!By ms pepsi

When they do, Laura Dempsey and Dave Larsen bring you the latest pop culture headlines and have a little fun at the celebrities’ expense. Now, on with the show! Frankly, if the media would leave the thugs alone, instead of printing/broadcasting their every move and/or mistake, we would all be better off. Glorifying their antics only adds to the mess.By Pete

So Bev, if you can be so scornful of others making comments here, just why the hell are you on here reading them & then responding. Sounds hypocritical to me. & for Tired… I agree w/ you. However, I’ve never heard of this guy. So he really can’t be much of a celebrity.By Sharp

Why did they release him? Because he is a celebrity? He can’t be that good, because I am into comedy and comedians and the only two times I have heard of him is when he gets arrested. Throw away the key!!!By The Truth

Sharp, just because your into comedy and comedians doesn’t make you knowledgeable. FYI. Katt Williams is well liked and enjoyed by the black community and others. His popularity ranks with Bernie Mack, Steve Harvey and others. Do some research, (WE) enjoy and support him. He is still a product of his upbringing. He has a fugitive in is house while he is gone and a gun in his possession when he is stopped. A dirtbag is a dirtbag no matter how much money they make! I’d like to see his tax return, it’s public record!
