Ask the expert … he won an Oscar!

This is ridiculous — on so many levels. First, Michael Douglas held a news conference at the U.N., urging the United States and eight other holdouts to ratify a nuclear test ban treaty. That seems silly enough.

Then, he was asked questions about the financial turmoil in world markets — you’ve heard about that, right? — not because he necessarily knows anything, but because he played a greedy capitalist in the 1987 movie “Wall Street.” (He won an Oscar for his role as Gordon Gekko, who popularized the catchphrase, “Greed is good.”)

He tried to get reporters back on point, but ‘twas not to be. After world leaders condemned the “boundless greed” of world markets, Douglas was asked to compare nuclear Armageddon with the “financial Armageddon on Wall Street.” A reporter asked: “Are you saying, Gordon, that greed is not good?”

“I’m not saying that,” Douglas replied. “And my name is not Gordon. He’s a character I played 20 years ago.”

Fiction, folks. Look it up. And acting, Michael. Stick to that.

Then, from Fatal Attraction, he should also be an expert at cheating on his wife….er…wait a minute.

He probably makes more sense than who’s actually running things even if the character he played is fiction. Where’s the author/screen writer?? Make him run for president!!!!!!

That did kind of happen, when Maureen Dowd interviewed President Bartlet from West Wing … really Aaron Sorkin. Hollywood thinks it knows everything.

agreed EdyLynn, you could poll a group of Chimpanzees and get more intelligent responses than you could from either Bush or McCain.
