Tony Hotel Saturday in Yellow Springs
My drummer friend Tony Hotel is playing a very rare live show this Saturday, August 15th, at Brother Bear’s Coffee House in Yellow Springs.
Hotel, who believes that “music is rhythm,” is playing two sets Saturday and is encouraging fans and friends to join into the show.
“I’m going to make the last set a jam for rhythm and dancers, bring your own rhythm instrument and join me onstage,” said Hotel.
Hotel’s music incorporates digital music with live drums. She uses unique and unconventional instrumentation touching on jazz and rock.
Hotel, who was invited to represent Dayton at last year’s South-by-Southwest Festival in Austin, Texas, released her debut cd earlier this year entitled Drums is Art. It is available at Toxic Beauty Records in Yellow Springs and Gem City Records.
Hear a sample of her tunes at her myspace page.
