Cherry Lee’s Grand Opening Shindig this Saturday
I love it when bands get together to support a good cause in community. That is why Saturday, July 11th I will be at the C{Space (20 N. Jefferson st.) for Cherry Lee’s Grand Opening Shindig.
Cherry Lee’s is a new hair salon opening later this month at 2712 Linden Ave in Dayton. It is also the longtime dream of owner and premiere stylist Cassandra Barker.
Barker, who was formerly a stylists at Square 1, is now opening her own salon without the help of loans or grants. She is the single mother of three who left the hair biz for the past few years to raise her kids. Through saving and hard work she is ready open Cherry Lee’s.
“She (Barker) has worked very hard on this and put all of her own money, blood, sweat and tears into it,” said show organizer and associate Brandy Voiles. “All of the bands playing this show are doing so for free out of the goodness of their rock & roll hearts to help get the word out about the salon.”
Set to play is Akillis Greene, Gem City Saints, Fairy Tale Suicide, Reggie Stone, Freak the Mighty (KY), and J. Marinelli (KY).
Show starts at 5 pm. Daddy Kats Kustom Kulture will have a booth along with other vendors. Also raffles will take place all night.
As for the salon: Cherry Lee’s will provide a full range of hair services for dudes and ladies, as well as massage therapy. The salon will even feature a lounge where patrons can kick back and enjoy a beverage while they wait.
“It’s all rock-a-billy themed, and it looks like the shiny, sparkly love child of a soda shop and a tattoo parlor,” said Voiles.
