Oxymoronatron say they’re “in it to win it”

Not to take too much credit, but I may have provoked local robot-punk rockers Oxymoronatron to enter the Dayton Band Playoffs again this Summer.

Not soon after my last post about the DBP at Canal Street Tavern, where I posed a call to Oxymoronatron and other established Dayton Bands to enter the Playoffs, I received an email from Oxymoronatron accepting my dare.

“We accept your challenge,” wrote MC Woodchuck of Oxy. “We are doing the DBP for one reason and that is to win the whole thing,” he exclaimed.

The band, who reached the semi-finals in last year’s Summer long band competition, will again bring their over-the-top stage show and music to the Canal Street stage.

Last year I had predicted that they would end up victorious in the end, and this year I might again throw my support behind Oxymoronatron and their fight against the “Evil, Mad Robots.”

However, looking at the upcoming shows I am a bit worried by another diverse and talented field in the Dayton Band Playoffs ‘09.

Here is the DBP dates. Remember the fans pick the winner. How democratic, and just in time for the Fourth.
