The Story Changes heading to studio in April
Got a quick note last week from one of my favorite Dayton rock bands the Story Changes. They have exciting news for their fans.
The band is heading back into the studio at the end of April. They will be recording new songs to be released on a split ep with the band Let Go (Miltia Group Records) later this Summer.
“Let Go is an amazing band that we’ve done quite a bit of touring with over the years,” said Story Changes front-man Mark Mcmillon. “We’re excited about the songs and the release. It will be out this Summer. We’re shooting for a July release,” added Mcmillon.
The band will be recording in Arizona with Jamie Woolford. Woolford worked with the band on their previous two records 2007’s The Way of the Dinosaur and 2005’s Last Night A Rock Band Saved My Life.
The Story Changes, who made an appearance on Warped Tour last Summer, are planing on spending this Summer touring the US.
However, the band’s tour van will be a bit less crowded this time around. For the past seven months the Story Changes have been playing as a two-piece, Mark Mcmillon on guitar/vocals and Poppy on drums.
Playing music with the power and drive that the Story Changes do is not easily done with just two bodies. But, they seem to be pulling it off.
“We’ve been touring as a two piece and absolutely love it,” said Mcmillon. “In addition to the live drums, guitar, and vocals, we use loops, recorded tracks, and some guitar effects to fill in the bass along with various keys, noises and added instrumentation that have previously been on our records, but we’ve never had in the live show until now. It’s actually been a fairly seamless transition. The response from both longtime friends as well as newcomers has been great and we’ve been having a lot of fun with it.”
Catch the band locally twice this month before they head out west.
Saturday, April 11th, is Mark’s birthday show at Blind Bob’s with I Was Totally Destroying It, Stone the Mayor Sheriffs, and Dark Backwards. They are also slated to play the 17th at Wright State to benefit cancer.
