Show of the week: Rock Island Plow Company
GCR Music Group, the guys that brought you the Dayton Music Fest and the Bellbrook Jamboree, have been putting on monthly bluegrass and folk showcases at Blind Bob’s.
This Saturday, February 28, will be the next installment of the GCR showcases. This month GCR will show off local-bluegrass band the Rock Island Plow Company and folk-singer/songwriter Daniel Ryan.
These showcases will continue monthly until the next Bellbrook Jamboree in May. The Bellbrook Jamboree is a annual 3-day bluegrass and folk festival held in Greene County.
The Rock Island Plow Company was one of the main attractions at last Summer’s Bellbrook Jamboree and is playing the upcoming NIBGA Tri-State Bluegrass Festival in Kendallville, Indiana May 22nd.
The band, who formed in 2004, play traditional bluegrass with a contemporary approach.
Also performing Saturday is young folk singer/songwriter Daniel Ryan from Hamilton, Ohio.
Ryan released his debut cd last year entitled Maybe Next Time. Since then Ryan has been traveling throughout southern Ohio. His upcoming show schedule includes dates in Cincinnati, Columbus, and Oxford.
