Lab Partners at Canal Street
One of my old favs the Lab Partners are playing a rare local show at Canal Street Tavern on Saturday, February 21st.
So I thought I would check in with the guys and girl of the space-rock 4-piece and ask them what they have been up too.
“We finally finished our record and it is going out for mastering this month,” boasted LP’s singer/guitarist Mike Smith.
The new cd will be the band’s third full-length and the long awaited follow-up to 2007’s acclaimed Keep Quiet ep. Look for it to be released later this year.
In the mean time, Smith promises to unveil many of the new songs on Saturday.
“We’ll be playing almost all new songs this weekend,” said Smith. “Maybe only two old ones.”
The band is also unveiling their new drummer, Kevin Vaughn, at Canal Street.
Catch the Lab Partners locally while you can.
The band will be taking off for Austin, Texas in March for a return visit to the South-By-Southwest festival. They are scheduled to play the Dream Machine party at SXSW.
