Heartless Bastards on WOXY
Things are going great for Cincinnati’s Heartless Bastards.
Fresh off their late December performance at Canal Street Tavern the band is ready to take over the indie rock world in ‘09.
It was announced last week that the band would be performing at this year’s SXSW festival in Austin, Texas.
They are also set to release a brand new full-length album on February 3rd entitled The Mountain. Following the release the band will hit the road on a national tour with the Black Keys.
So what keeps them grounded?

Lead vocalist Erika Wennerstrom sounds especially haunting and quite comfortable in a acoustic setting.
The band performs a number of songs off their upcoming album. They give off the same indie-folk that they are known for except with a bit more instrumentaion.
Wennerstrom has spent most of the past year living in Austin, Texas recording the new disc with producer (and Cincinnati native) Mike McCarthy. McCarthy has also worked with Spoon an Trail of Dead.

The other locally based band to make the nations largest annual independent music showcase is the metal/screamo band the Devil Wears Prada from Dayton.
