Bob Pollard to headline Dayton Music Fest
I just got confirmation from the GCR Music crew, the founders and operators of the annual Dayton Music Festival, that Robert Pollard will headline the 2008 indie-music festival.
GCR and the long-time Guided By Voices front-man have recently agreed to terms that will put Pollard on the bill.
The addition of Pollard should make this years fest the largest in its four year history.
No other bands or headliners have been announced for DMF ‘08 which is set to happen October 4th.
Pollard released a brand new solo cd earlier this week entitled Robert Pollard is Off to Business. Hear samples of the new tracks on his website www.robertpollard.net.
Bands and fans can go to www.daytonmusicfest.com to see pics from DMF ‘07 or to enter the DMF flyer art contest and win free tickets and cash.
I want to ask music fans in Dayton what they think about Pollard as the headliner?
Click on the comments and be heard.
I for one could not be more excited about it. Arguably the most important musician in Dayton rock history coming to play the DMF gives legitimacy to the current Dayton music community and the DMF itself.

In what world were After The Accident influenced by GBV…I actually laughed out loud when I went to their myspace page. Sorry but you must be insane to think that or just trying to promote your own band.By Maudawg

WOW, you are the first Dayton writer to not use the word “prolific” as every other word when writing about Pollard… I am impressed;) Never have gotten the GBV thing? Not my cup of tea but to each his own…By null

After the Accident band should appear with Pollard. They were influenced by GBV and others. It is a perfect match for this venue.By chad wolfe
