The Rebel Set to release new cd in March

When I first discovered the Rebel Set (in 2006) they were a three-piece rock-a-billy act made up of ex-Buzzbrains and ex-TCB Hit Squad members still trying to put together their definitive sound.

But now, The Rebel Set are a formative and fiery five-piece that is more rock than billy and ready to release their highly anticipated debut that has been three years in the planning.

“The title of the album is Ghost Town Silence,” said Rebel Set front-man, Tom Gilliam. “We are very glad with the way it turned out and ready to release it.”

Ghost Town Silence will feature 11 original tracks by the band. It will be very diverse in style mixing rock n’ roll, rock-a-billy, jazz, and americana.

“The entire album was recorded live onto analog tape except for the vocals and a few overdubs for additional instrumentation; which included a Hammond B-3 organ, trumpet, trombone, harmonica & accordion,” said Gilliam. “Even the guitar solos were all done in one take on the master band track.”

The album, which was recorded last August and September by Patrick Himes (who recorded Ryan Adams and Shrug), will be hitting the streets March 29th.

The band is planning a release party for the same date at the Oregon Express with HQAX and Appalachian Heartache.

Fans, and soon to be fans, will be able to purchase the record many various ways including ITunes, Amazon MP3, Rhapsody, Napster, eMusic & GroupieTunes and locally at Gem City Records.

I really love the song ‘Hookers and Blow.’ Check it out, it might just be an all-timer.
