Rock n’ Roll New Year’s Eve

Here is a quick listing of Dayton New Year’s Eve rock shows. Check them out.

Monday, December 31st:

Oregon Express - HQAX, Poor Devils, and Rhonda - The OE’s New Year’s Eve show will feature three fun and up-beat rock bands. The Poor Devils are back together after a long hiatus and I am positive that they have not missed a beat. HQAX are one of my favorite live acts in town because of their infectious pop-punk-rock originals as well as their energetic stage antics. Opening is the very entertaining power-pop-punk rock band Rhonda. - Show starts at 9 pm - Visit myspace.com/oregonexpress for more info.

Canal Street Tavern - The Maji and Bandwagon Sessions - Rockin’ Maji shows are few and far between these days. As one of the area’s best jam-rock acts they only play big events. Thus I must assume that New Year’s Eve at Canal Street will be jammin’. After all, these are the guys who started the annual Harvest Jam (Dayton’s largest jam-rock festival) - Show starts at 9:30 pm - Visit canalstreettavern.com for more info.

Gilly’s - Captain of Industry, The Male Models, Toads and Mice, and Baby Teeth - Gilly’s is great venue to host a New Year’s Eve rock show, and Captain of Industry is a great indie-rock band to have headline the event. Captain will conclude a weekend tour of Cincinnati and Kentucky with the show at Gilly’s. The Male Models, who have Dayton roots, now call St. Louis home. Be cautious when listening to the indie-pop Models because their catchy songs will stick to your ears - Show starts at 8 pm. Visit http://hometown.aol.com/gillyjazz for more info.

Peach’s - Freekbass - Get out of the city on New Year’s Eve and hit midnight with Cincinnati’s funk artist Freekbass at Peach’s Grill in Yellow Springs. This Protege of funk legend Bootsy Collins is sure to entertain and amaze - Show starts at 10 pm and includes a buffet and champagne. Visit www.peachsgrill.com for more info.
