Umbrella Men featured on NPR

Old-time Dayton folk/rock band the Umbrella Men were recently featured on Bob Boilen’s NPR Music show All Songs Considered.

Boilen chose to include the Umbrella Men’s version of Jingle Bells among other songs from artists including the Magnetic Fields, the Minus Five, Apples in Stereo and the Knife.

The Tuss brothers version of the well-known Christmas song is unlike any other and features dueling voices, acoustic guitars, and violins.

The show and the song can be streamed and downloaded on NPR.org. Also visit the multi-instrumentalist Umbrella Men on the space at myspace.com/discountnostalgia to hear more Christmas music from the band.

The Umbrella Men, who were runner-ups in this years Dayton Band Playoffs, will be back at Canal Street Tavern next Saturday, December 23rd with Wild and Free and Andrew and the Pretty Punchers.

The band is also scheduled to play the Nite Owl in January.
