Singer/songwriter Steven Gullett settling in LA
Back in October long-time Dayton musician Steven Gullett decided to leave the Valley and continue his rockin’ music career in Los Angeles.
This singer/songwriter and former host of Canal Street Tavern’s Tuesday night Musician’s Co-op was deeply involved in Dayton music and the void that he left behind is very difficult to fill.
Aside from his solo projects, Gullett was also a member of popular Dayton rock bands the American Static, Snake Oil, and the Mystery Addicts.
Recently Gullett has digitally released all four of his solo discs as well as the Snake Oil lp entitled Almost Acoustic Music and the Mystery Addicts cd Unlock and Shame. The albums are available through Snocap.com and on Gullett’s myspace page (myspace.com/stevengullett).
Last week I checked in with Gullett to see how LA was treating him and he assured me he was doing alright.
“LA’s great and a bit overwhelming at times, but I’m settling in,” Gullett said. “I am still trying get my feet wet in the music scene, mostly playing open mics around town. It seems like I’ve been out here for a while when it’s only been two months,” he added.
When asked if he missed Dayton he sharply answered, “I don’t miss Dayton the city but I miss my friends a lot, oh, and I miss cheap drinks.”
