Over the Rhine coming back to Canal Street Tavern
Cincinnati folk-rock veterans Over the Rhine will be back in Dayton this Saturday, November 17th.
The husband and wife duo, who was recently mentioned as one of the “Best 100 Living Songwriters” by Paste magazine, will take the Canal Street stage in support of their brand new LP called The Trumpet Child.
The Trumpet Child is appropriately named as the band lines the walls of the record with trumpets and other assorted instruments, yet still furnishes each track with the timeless song-writing and rootsy melodies that all OTR fans are used too.
Labels for this unique combination of old and new and jazz and folk have yet to be introduced, so I will stick with the “neo-cabaret” tag-line that many have already coined it.
For a limited time the band has the entire new record posted on their web-site, overtherhine.com, in streaming audio.
Catch Over the Rhine locally before they jump back on the road for a December tour of the mid-west.
Buy tickets in advance at the Canal Street Tavern box office for $20.
