Southeast Engine cd release at Canal Street

Our indie-rock friends from Athens are at Canal Street Tavern this Friday, November 2nd, with new hardware to show off.

The band’s new Mirsa Records release is titled Wheel within a Wheel, and according to the band’s website, www.southeastengine.com, the title refers to “the vision of God” in the book Ezekiel in which it is said to be like a “wheel.”

The band writes about the new disc, “this album isn’t a Biblical study or religious proselytizing. It’s the struggle of one man to walk through life and come to terms with the things he sees and encounters and somehow resolve his faith in something greater and his own role in all of it.”

I have yet to hear the album, but an entire life story in one single record; I did not know that was possible.

The band will be selling the record at the show on Friday for the first time in Dayton. On Saturday Southeast Engine returns to party central in Athens, Ohio to play a free release show at the OU Baker Theater.

Also playing on Friday at Canal Street is Dayton indie-favs Captain of Industry. They too have recently released a cd. While your at the show pick up Captain’s new ep entitled The Gold Teeth ep.

Captain, who spent most of 2007 recording Gold Teeth, is gearing up for a trip to New York later this month.
