Midpoint music festival this weekend

The first full moon of Fall is out and that means that all the local maternity wards are filled with newborn babies and that festival season on the local music calendar is finally here.

The Dayton Music Fest is looming just two-weeks away, but first I will turn my attention to Cincinnati’s Midpoint Music Festival which begins Wednesday, September 26th and lasts through Saturday, September 29th.

The Midpoint Music Fest takes over Cincinnati every year and features over 200 bands from across the country and the world.

Midpoint is one of the Nation’s largest music festivals and this year will feature many of Dayton’s best bands among it’s International line-up.

The lists of Dayton representatives include; last year’s Dayton Band Playoff Champion Orange Willard; indie-pop-rockers Ruetschele; americana-rock band Drexel; Springboro’s girl punk-rockers Vanity Theft; singer/songwriter Jayne Saches; alt-rockers Murmur; Veteran Dayton punk-rock band Oxymoronatron; the funky electro-dance project of DressCode; the Hip-hop of the Dayton Boyz; and a yet to be announced few more. These bands are scattered throughout the city of Cincinnati at different times and days. For complete schedule including venues visit www.mpmf.com.

This strong Dayton presence at Midpoint in front of a worldwide audience will hopefully open a few eyes to the talented Dayton scene and gain some well-deserved recognition.

The four days of music will begin with a incredible pre-party that will include performances from influential alternative band Superdrag and the talented rock duo from Nashville Forget Cassettes.

John Davis of Superdrag will also be a Keynote speaker at the event. Minor Threat guitarist Lyle Preslar will also be speaking.

This year’s festival will be very fan friendly and will have new features including Radio Midpoint where fans can stream performances at mpmf.com.

Tickets are $25 and get you into all clubs throughout the weekend. Buy them also at the Midpoint website (mpmf.com).

I cannot wait for the weekend. It is just a 45-minute drive to Cincinnati.
