Playoff report

I see through the various comment exchanges from my last post on the Dayton Band Playoffs that Wednesday night’s semi-final between the Sandals and Audible Influence at Canal Street Tavern will be bloody.

I can not wait.

The second semi-final is set for Wednesday, September 5th, and will feature the old-time folk rock of the Umbrella Men versus the grit and glam of Brother Been.

Brother Been, who was eliminated by the Amazing Hawkline Band in round 2, get a chance at the semi-final due to a scheduling conflict from the AHB and Yakuza Heart Attack.

I would say that Brother Been is the obvious underdog in the semi’s and that the Umbrella Men will make the finals as long as they continue their steady momentum.

However, as I am often reminded, anything can happen in the Dayton Band Playoffs.

Click the comments and let me know who you think will make the 2007 DBP finals.

The rules in the semi-final round will be the same as the previous two rounds. The fans in attendance will decide the winner by paper ballot.

Visit www.canalstreettavern.com for more info and directions.

The Dayton Band Playoff finals are set for Friday, September 15th, at Canal Street Tavern.

I agree with you, Alex….what a night! There was head to head competition from both bands, and talent all around. Didn’t see any blood, thankfully, but just everyone having a great time. I am a big fan TAI and of course was very pleased at the results. Great show from both bands!

Hey I just wanted to say that The Sandals were a great and very talented band and very nice guys at that. This round was anything but bloody, we had a great time playing with The Sandals and its a shame that we had to play against each other in the semi-finals and not the finals. -Alex-

TAI will, in my opinion, make it to the finals. These boys are extremely talented musicians, each growing in expertise, if you take time to listen to each one play. I hope you are wrong, Kris, about the semi’s being “bloody”. Having already witnessed a few “bloody” behaving bands in the dbp who were sore losers, I hope that both bands in Wed. semis can have courage and rise above being “bloody” - and just play music for the thrill of good music. The band with the best music AND character should win the dbp.
