The Sailing to play Canal Street on Friday

I heard straight from the mouth of the Sailing’s drummer Gus that the band has finished up recording on their highly anticipated debut LP and is looking to release it later this year.

“The new album will be called Infinity Gate, and we will hopefully have it ready to release by late 2007 or early 2008,” said Gus.

The recording process, which mostly took place in West Virginia, has been quite lengthy for Dayton’s most melodramatic rock band.

So lengthy, in fact, that the guys in the Sailing have compiled a long list of video games that they have “beat” during the months of recording Infinity Gate. The list is posted in a blog on the band’s myspace page (myspace.com/thesailing) and features games like Golden Eye, Mega Man, and all 120 levels of Super Mario Brothers on NES 64.

The band has also posted a track listing of the album as well as the Google results for the title, “Infinity Gate” (which happens to be something in a Star Wars episode).

“Many of the songs have already been released on previous ep’s, but those ep’s kinda sucked,” said Gus. “These recordings are the best versions of these songs that we can provide our fans.”

The band will be performing this Friday, Aug. 10th at Canal Street Tavern with Grizzzy Bear and Oxymoronatron. The show starts at 9 pm.

When your at the show ask the band how to find the secret levels in Mario World. I am sure they know all the secrets.
