The boys of summer are back at Canal Street Tavern
Registration begins next week for the 2007 Dayton Band Playoffs.
It could then be coincidence (or not) that the last three winners of the Dayton Band Playoffs will be performing this weekend on the same stage where they were crowned champs.
These boys of summer are Mona (2004), Saint Cycle (2005), and Orange Willard (2006) and they are all scheduled to rock Canal Street Tavern over the next three days.
Thursday, April 5th, local rockers Saint Cycle make their return to Canal Street. They were the 2005 Playoff champs and have since released a self titled ep that is for sale at cdbaby.com. Also on the bill is the 2006 Playoff runner-up, AVO.
Friday, April 6th, last year’s Playoff champion Orange Willard will play their cd release show. It is fitting that the band will hold their release party at Canal Street because they used part of their prize winnings from the Playoffs to record the new cd called Two Years Later. Their long-awaited debut album was recorded at Refraze studio in Kettering. Also playing are the hard rockers Fluwid and the pop/rockers Clemmer.
Saturday, April 7th, indie-pop-princes Mona will be playing with sonic rockers Halos Were Found At the Landing Site. Mona is famous for the last to first run they had in the 2004 Dayton Band Playoffs. They too, have a cd they released last December. Their self produced cd is titled Perfect Fit. The band will hopefully unveil some of their new tracks at the show that they have posted at www.monatheband.com.
