Daytonbands.com gets new look

For the past ten years DaytonBands.com has been an online hub for fans and bands from around the city to get together and help grow the Dayton music scene.

The website serves over a million pages a month of music news and gossip to between 7,000 and 10,000 people.

The site features everything Dayton music from a musicians corner, event calendar, interviews, forums, and webcasts.

Earlier this year website founders Tony Hurley and Jeremy Knedler gave the site a facelift giving it a stylistic new look and adding new interactive features.

“This is the third or fourth time we have started over from scratch and recreated our website,” Hurley explained. “It is never easy to start over, but we’re sort of at the mercy of technology,” he continued.

The newest addition to the site are the forums which actually allow anyone to publish their own articles and podcasts. This is a powerful tool for in scene promotion and individual opinions to be shared.

“We really want people to take advantage of posting articles and podcasts. We never dictate what the author should say and we do not edit the content. We hope this keeps Dayton creative,” said Hurley.

Daytonbands.com, who has seen over 5000 members over it’s history, is free to join and utilize. All members and non-members can access all the information on the site, but only members can post articles. Members will also receive a monthly newsletter keeping them informed with the news on the streets.

“We have many features that some large national sites feature, but we do it on a local focus,” Hurley said.

Visit www.DaytonBands.com and be heard.

What ever happened to Hullabalu? Those guys were bad-a*s. Granted it has been some years now but I remember seeing them last, one blurry night, at the Front Street warehouse. (Blurry in-part to the drunken stupor and also from the injuries sustained on the half-pipes in the other room skating drunk… Good Times!)

Daytonbands.com has played an intregal factor in helping us in our rise from a local Dayton area band, to being on the verge of releasing a major national album. We would like to thank Jeremy and Tony for all their efforts in bringing a first class forum to the Dayton music scene. -Troy Brown Small Town Sleeper

I love Daytonbands.com. I’m glad this article is here to give more attention to such a great resource in the area. Jeremy and Tony have done (and continue to do) a great service for all bands in the Dayton area (and beyond). Does any one know if other cities have a similar website? That would a great tool for Dayton-area groups to set up gig swaps. Keep up the good work Tony, Jeremy, AND Kris.
