St. Patrick’s Day music menu
In 7 AD St. Patrick chased all of the snakes out of Ireland and drowned them in the sea.
Sounds like a great reason to celebrate and drink green beer.
Music is everywhere on St. Patty’s Day (Saturday, March 17th).
Many bars will feature live bands all day long.
The Dublin Pub is jam packed with Celtic dancers and musicians with the band Homeland finishing off the night. To see their schedule visit www.whatsupdayton.com.
Peach’s in Yellow Springs is also open from morning until night with a $5.00 cover that will buy you live music all day. Crazy Joe and the Mad River Outlaws will close the show, but knowing Joe the band will only fuel the party. Visit www.peachsgrill.com for the complete schedule.
Canal Street Tavern may have the most complete music weekend and are sure to draw big crowds. Friday and Saturday Cinci indie-rockers Over the Rhine will perform on the Canal Street stage. Then Sunday the legendary Reverend Horton Heat will make his annual Canal appearance. www.CanalStreetTavern.com lists that limited tickets for the Rev are still available, but the show is sure to sell-out.
Here are a few of the other going-ons:
Friday, March 16th: Over the Rhine at Canal Street; Linden Davis Group at McGuffy’s; City Knights at the Trolley Stop; Homeland at Peach’s; N Side Out at Oregon Express; G. Scott Freedom Ensemble at Jasper Wall Creative Sound Cafe; HQAX and the Rebel Set at Nite Owl.
Saturday, March 17th: Over the Rhine at Canal Street; Dublin Pub St. Patty’s Day Celebration; Crazy Joe and the Mad River Outlaws at Peach’s; Mike Craft at Jasper Wall Creative Sound Cafe; Ozzmosis at McGuffy’s; Doug Hart Band at Oregon Express; Los Lobos at Victoria Theater.

re; Dayton Local Music - You seem to only cover the local bands who dont make a living at it. The clubs in the Oregon District, McGuffy’s, Peachs,Canal Street etc. are all “work for the door” or low budget entertainment bars- the “real” local pros (Jerardi, Last Call, Time Machine, Websters, Menus etc.) wont play these venues. If you want to review these bands of seasoned pros then you have to promote the clubs where they perform (3 to 5 times a week)- Stubbies, Bojangles, Ziggys, Wings, Sharkeys etc.Otherwise change the name of your column to ” Local Musicians Who Will Work For Beer”By josh
