Like a Million Lights are booking summer tour
The instrumental movement has begun, and Like a Million Lights are leading the march.
The young Dayton-based three-piece Like a Million Lights believe that wordless melodies can be just as powerful as the wordy ones.
“We are completely instrumental and a lot of people do not understand it, but we feel that a vocalist would take away from our originality,” said guitarist Justin.
Like a million Lights also includes Max on bass and Luke on drums.
Stylistically labeled as ambient-instrumental hard rock, Like a Million Lights put dynamics to work by building, un-building, and rebuilding songs through melodies, noise, and beat.
The band’s live show also sets them apart. They use lighting tricks and fog to supply the mood while displaying silhouettes upon a sheet hung behind the band of the different pieces in movement.
“Since we don’t have a vocalists we do other things to keep the crowd entertained. We are very specific with our lighting because we want to create mystery for the music,” remarked Justin.
The band is currently booking their first tour and plan to leave by summer. As of right now Like a Million Lights will hit the road with their friends and fellow rockers Sound of Language.
“Booking a tour is stressful and hectic, but it will be worth it when it all comes together,” said Justin.
Also this summer the band plans to record the follow-up to their self-titled debut demo. To hear tracks from the demo visit myspace.com/likeamillionlights.
The band was set to perform this Friday at the Gathering Grounds, but the show had to be cancelled. The next local performance will be in April at the Dixie Activity Center. Check their myspace for more details.

I do not see what all the hype is about. I have personally seen, listened to, played with, and recorded many talented musicians in all kinds of genres and this is a boring listen for me.By Luke Sedmak

great article. LAML is an impressive group of young musicians tackling a sometimes overlooked music genre. Mad props for standing out from the crowd.By Alliah Turner

they are amazing live. i have never heard a sound like it. all the guys are great too. they love what they do and are so passionate about their music. It’s really inspiring watching them play. It’s not comman for a band with no vocals to be succesful but you pay more attention to the music rather that words with LAML. Their music is beautiful and i hope that everyone recognizes it. Thanks
