Shrug off Saturday
Shrug’s Tod Weidner should teach a class on songwriting. On the Shrug’s new album Whole Hog For The Macho Jesus, Tod sings to perfection giving a clinic on good pop music.
With a sound somewhere between Tom Petty and The Jayhawks, Shrug has been able to last in a city not known for long lasting rock bands. But, I’m thinking that is really not an accident.
This weekend Shrug is with the Cincinnati roots rock band, The Hiders, for a great show at Canal Street Tavern on Saturday, November 11th. Beginning at 9:30, this is my pick for show of the week. Wil Cope is also performing.
Also this weekend:
Catch Sleepybird twice - Friday November 10th at the Trolley Stop and Saturday November 11th at Peaches.
Friday November 10th - Johnny A w/ Jim Volk at Canal Street Saturday November 11th - XL427 w/ The Sheats, The Sheds, Sheldon Marsh at Oregon Express
