Mona announces cd release

Mona’s debut cd has been a work in progress for nearly two years. But that will change on December 9th when the band will officially release a 16-track LP entitled Perfect Fit.

Not to brag, but I am one of the few people who have heard the new cd from this soulful rock three-piece. Bluntly put, the album does not sound like a local release. Its production quality is radio and label ready, even though it was self recorded and produced at the band’s home studio, Zion Noiz Productions.

The album is long for a debut, but the songs are interesting, catchy, and flow extremely well that the length is more of a treat than an announce. Even the 10 minute long final track is climatic and dynamic featuring everything from a blues opening riff, a heavy rocked out ending, and the unforgettable lungs of front man, Nick Brown.

Mona calls the album a “foundational album” because they have tried to include all the aspects of their music and writing style on one album. I would have to say that they succeeded if they meant to make a bluesy, rock n’ roll, indie, pop, and even electronic in spots record.

Fans will recognize some of the band’s live hits that made the record such as the very infectious hot rocker, Thank God It’s Friday. But there are lots of new ones appearing on the cd as well.

Mark your calendars now for Mona’s cd release party at Canal Street Tavern on December 9th. Visit www.myspace.com/monatheband for more info and a preview of two songs from the new album.
