Peptide Tattoo is the most professional studio I’ve visited in the Dayton area. One of the first things you notice when you walk in is the lack of tattoo designs on the wall…thats because they only do custom designs…If I could I would attach a picture of my daughters tattoo and that in itself would say it all….they are amazing and brilliant artists and a pleasure to work with….definitely got my vote and we are definitely going back!

They are in demand across the U.S., with Matty traveling from coast to coast to do tattoos. His are among some of the best in the world, just check out his website and facebook photos.

Peptide Tattoo Studio is by far my favorite tattoo studio in the area…not only do they have the talent…but they give back to their community on a regular basis, as well. Everytime I’ve been in the shop or referred a friend, the result has always been great tattooing & and tremendous experience overall. Tattoo Collectors should really check them out when doing their research before getting tattooed in the Dayton Area. And a big thanks to Matty McTatty for always taking care of everyone so well…and the the highest of integrity.

I vote Monkey Bones. I’ve had one half sleeve done by Travis that I get compliments on daily. And I have another half sleeve in progress by him at the moment that is beautiful detailed work. They all have great attitudes and treat their customers better than the other tattoo shops that I have done business with around here.

Although I am married to one of the artists, and of course I voted for him…, I just wanted to mention that I haven’t had the pleasure of meeting all the shops listed, but many I have and we are good friends with many of them - and I truely mean it -some of these shop owners and artists are like family to us. Each shop has amazing artists and put out great work…all of them. Congrats to all of the shops! You each deserve to be recognized.

Cloak and Dagger tattoo studio is by far the best. Britton Asbury is an amazing artist and has worked on my fiancés arm, along with my full back piece. I gave him a very rough idea for a memorial tattoo to remember my Grandmother, and it has exceeded my expectations every step of the way. I can not wait for my fiancé and I to get our feet done before our wedding!

Dayton has alot of awesome tattoo shops. Everyone has their own artist & shop they like. Dayton has grown alot in the tattoo field in the last 28 yrs (since I’ve been in the business) May the best shop win. I think there all winners due to the fact they are in legal shops and care enough about their customers to do it legal and Healthy.Good luck everyone .. Stretch……..

Neither are most of the shops listed…Mr. Obvious. Sorry, you’re so angry that your fav shop isn’t winning right now…but it’s not like there’s a $100,000 grand prize to be concerned about. Lighten up…it’s nothing more than a poll that activedayton uses yearly to draw attention to their sites…stop treating it like it’s the end of the world, son. The Dayton Area has a lot of towns that are worthy of being included in this poll.
By Just a thought

I think these polls are stupid…if a shop is awesome, the ink shows that…not some poll where you try to get every single person you know to vote…to me that’s retarded. Doesn’t show anything except that people can manipulate a useless poll. If your the best shop you wouldn’t need a senseless poll to tell the public that your shop is the best…..

I have been to both Krazy Katz as well as Monkey Bones. This is because my artist left Krazy Katz and went to Monkey Bones….Both shops are great atmospheres and do phenominal work and their employees are all down to earth. The artist I use is Spyder, and everything I have brought to him, he has been able to replicate exactly and when it comes to custom work, he will surpass your expectations with his artistic thinking and quality work!!!! But every shop listed in this poll is due their credit!!

I happen to know that Peptide has over 6,000 followers between their personal sites and shop pages. I don’t know where you idiots find your info! But this isn’t about who’s best of anything! If it was, this site would “award” the title, not drive a bunch of people to vote. My vote is for Peptide, not just because they do good work, but their clients aren’t a bunch of whiny-sissy’s!!

Seems like every year, there’s a bunch a people commenting to bash whoever is in the lead on these polls. It’s amazing how you can call the poll a joke, but still be angry about it at the same time! LOL. If you don’t like this poll, or the poll’s results…just get over it. Just because Jimmy’s Hot Dog’s wins BEST HOT DOG doesn’t mean it’s the BEST HOT DOG of all time…it just means that they did a great job of marketing themselves to this site for people to vote. If you claim it doesn’t matter, then stop taking it so seriously. And make an appointment with your therapist…sounds like some of you really need it.

I love bluebird by the dayton mall. I only have one tattoo, but its was worked on twice. They are very polite and got me in right away. The guy even had to deal with niece and 2 1/2 year old son and was really good with them. He was polite and the whole staff is just great. My tattoo turned out amazing and I will only ever go to this bluebird for any future tattoos which will be very soon.

Same crap, different year!! I get that you people are so passionate about your respective studios, I’m glad to see it, but this is a “poll”…I may not have 30 artists, or specialize in lettering, but I do the best I can with what my clients ask! If you want your shop to win this “paper award”, then I suggest doing what I’ve done…network!! It obviously doesn’t take a million facebook “likes” to accomplish this! Just loyal clients and friends. At the end of the day, the term “best” is relative to ones own opinion. This vote, IN REALITY, is a ploy to drive internet traffic to a particular site for the sake of advertising dollars and nothing more! Good luck to the other studio’s, whether you’re in Dayton or not.

@ stubby fingers , I also don’t think it’s a very good idea for you to go around saying that other shop owners said that the rest of Ohio’s tattoo shops suck. Peptide is the most professional shop in the Dayton area. Matty takes care of his clients, AS WELL as Josh Roberts!!! You don’t need a mega shop, to be the best….2 Quality Individuals, a SUPER clean shop, and the Passion to be the best and work for it makes PEPTIDE THE BEST!!!
By Brittany Hahn

Matty doesn’t have to be obsessed with any awards. Those of us who are his clients knows that he’s one of the best at what he does and he doesn’t need any awards to prove it, his work does that by itself. Sounds like you got tattooed by a scratcher and that you’re just hating on something that you don’t have that you want. Just remember next time you go to get a tat, you get what you pay for=)

Ya know, if I was a person from out of town visiting this site for things to do, including get some tattoos, I wouldn’t go to any of your shops! I’ve never claimed to be the best at anything…I’m not as arrogant as some! In fact, I believe it’s the fool who where’s the crown! Are you pissed that I’m just one person having such a big impact?? Like I said before, the term “best” is relative to your own opinion. If you don’t like my work, that’s fine too. But don’t hate because I have an outstanding clientele who backs me in polls like this. Don’t like it, I suggest you do more for the shop you support then!! Simple as that!!

I voted for Peptide Tattoo because of the awesome experiences I’ve had there over the years, and my tattoos are of a higher quality from Matty than of some of the other shops & artists that I’ve been too in town and around the area as well….including Cincy & Indy. It’s that simple. Does the winner of this contest get $1,000 or something? So much neg crap on here because of someone that has a larger “fan base” than someone else does. I wonder if the Best Hot Dog in Dayton contest has this type of haterific crap on it! “My hot dog is the best!” “No it ain’t…MY HOT DOG IS THE BEST & YOURS SUCKS!” “No, my hot dog is way tastier than yours and you have lots of facebook people that like your hotdogs better so you suck!” LMAO!! —— Dudes…it’s an online poll…nothing more and nothing less. No Matty just has an awesome clientele who love him and his artwork. I’m with Matty I think someone is just angry that he is making such a huge impact. And if someone doesn’t like your artwork Matty they just don’t know what custom artwork is. This person who keeps coming on this site and making all these comments hasn’t even given a call out 2 one shop or owner or artist. Kind of makes you wonder. And as far as this person making comments about you having a full staff coming on here making comments for you, why is it that this person has nothing better 2 do then 2 come on here and try yes I said try to bash you. And as far as the going out of town for a tattoo comment I would follow Matty 2 the ends of the earth for his one of a kind artwork. Even if he was arrogant . Although he’s not even though he has every right to be. I honestly see nothing wrong with arrogance if the shoe fits, and it deff. fits Matty but yet he remains to be a totally cool laid back guy who just do what he does and he does it well. Stop having such sour grapes.

Something else you don’t see is Matty’s clients coming on this site bashing other shops and artist. We know that there are some other nice artist and shops out there, we just prefer Matty and his amazing work. Nothing wrong with knowing what one likes and stating it. But we keep it classy just like the guy who does our artwork. That’s another great word that describes Peptide Tattoo. Classy. So 2 the rest of some of you and you know who you are, stop acting trashy.

Peptide Tattoo gets my vote…because every other shop I went into gave me the “too cool for school” treatment…didn’t seem to care about making my vision for the tattoo I wanted a priority. Well, after about 15 minutes of talking with Matty, I finally felt confident that someone cared enough to take the time to treat me with respect and HELP ME figure out what style of tattooing best suited my needs as a cleint. He drew it from scratch, and now I have a tattoo that honors my family and marriage, and I’m forever greatfull. Peptide Tattoo gets my vote, and that’s why. Pretty agressive comments for an online poll…geez.

I have to say i think its bad that people are trying to talk crap about other shops. I have been going to matty at peptide for 6 yrs now and as a client i will back him 100%. He is very good and professional at what he does. The ones that are bashing on him or the shop are jealous of what he has accomplished in just the last several years of being open. He is not the only artist in the shop but even if he was that makes it that no differnce that he puts off great pieces and has clients that will go nowhere else. There are lots of good artist and shops in the dayton area and to bash on him for what he has done with his studio in a short period of time is dumb.

There are many great artists and great people on here. Can we stop the bashing please? If you have a reason not to like someone, let them know. By throwing words like spitfire, you make yourself look worse in the process, not the other person. If a professional is winning or getting votes, it is because that person most likely carrying himself in a positive manner. Remember what this is and only is: a poll. a popularity contest. Some displayed recognition if we should be so fortunate. That’s about it. Thank you to the folks who have given me some props. I do feel fortunate for having you as clients.

This must be really important poll to you, if that’s the type of post you wanted to throw out there. Shouldn’t you be mentioning the shop that you support or work at so that the actual people that visit Active Dayton’s website know how professional and talented the shop you support (or work at) is….?? Unfortunately, no one will read your post and want to visit your shop for a consultation or appointment…because you didn’t mention them. Smart marketing there genius…enjoy your day.

To: eric@Krazy Katz Your post is exactly what this tattoo community in the Dayton area should be, but isn’t…respectful and supportive. Heathy competition or debate is one thing…but overall, I wish they would moderate the comments in these polls a bit closer. There’s no need for anyone to bash anyone. You’d think there was a million dollars at stake or something with all of the hating going on. Wishing you & your shop the best in 2012 & Beyond, Eric….and to all of the other shops nominated in the area as well. It’s what your clients say after the tattoo that means the most anyways, right? 1st of all….Im not at all concerned with whether we win or not. It’s not going to make or break our appointment schedule over the next 12 months. Whoever draws the most attention to the poll, wins the poll, and it’s nothing more or nothing less. Peptide Tattoo is a solid shop, and should be respected for having a loyal client base, willing to go the extra mile for them. Matty is a class act, and a talented artist. Despite our differences, he’s just as deserving as we are in this poll…”Best Of Dayton” is a popularity contest. I don’t care who wins this. None of you should. We’re artists, our work is subjective…its the client that matters, not the voters. Best of luck to everyone…and stop acting like a bunch of unprofessional jackasses making our tattoo community look like a circus. D.B.

I might not know all of you personally and the ones I do know I consider friends and I wish the best for you all and really if you look at this it isn’t “The best of” it’s the support of our customers! P.M.A people, it’s all good. I sound like a damn hippy, good night! And congrads Matty regardless of this mess your a great artist and a great dude, will you marry me?

Really? I’ve never seen Peptide turn out any tribal tattoos. Just saying. Might want to go back and look again. What tribe would we be from? The cracker tribe?!? Give me a break. Have a little respect for each artist on here instead of dishing out hate. Hate is so pointless and about as attractive as a tribal tattoo.

I voted for peptide tattoo because they are a great shop, clean and helped me and my wife with our tattoos. We looked at lots of shops 1st, and in the end, we just felt more comfortable there and decided to have Josh do our work. We love our tattoos. Thanks guys!

TRUTH&TRIUMPH without a doubt! The amount of talent under one roof is insane! They give back to the community in so many ways and win awards every where they go! Plus they fix half of the bad tattoos being done by half these other shops anyways! If your just voting because a friend tells you and you have no actual idea the quality of the shop your voting for please take a second and check out some of the artwork and make an actual educated vote! It will lead you back to T&T every single time!

We do what we love and thats it. But thank you to our customers and friends who voted for us, it’s still not over till monday so keep voting and if you leave a comment be positive cause this s**t is disapointing and makes our industry look bad! mg

I personally vote in the Active Dayton polls regularly and have never considered the comments on here those of the industry being voted on. To think the comments on here are only from your competition would take a very closed minded person, having your establishment win Best of Dayton can be an accomplishment but you will have to market this site to your customers and social media contacts in order to achieve the award because in todays world everyone is on twitter, facebook, ect. so word of mouth about this site will get you the maximum amount of votes. I understand comments from others may not reflex your industry in a good light but understand that they are just peoples opinions and you know we all got em.

Even Picasso was laughed at and scorned. But the man had vision. In the world of art either people love what you do or hate it.The art of tattooing varies as do everyone’s personalities and opinions. I’m not a customer of any of these shops but I’ve seen many of these artists work. As a great appreciator of art. I happen to think you all are amazing in your own way. And to bicker seems so……small. I have alot of work I want to have done. May even go to several shops by the time its over. one things for sure, if an artist works on me they have to have a sanitary shop that provides adequate privacy ,pricing has to be reasonable, and I won’t let a egotistical person touch me. If your good you don’t have to act better than your customer or blow yourself up, being humble is the sign of a true artist. Anyways good luck everyone. Even if you don’t win it doesn’t mean that you aren’t worthy . And I think a happy customer who is displaying your art is all the reward you need.=D

Sorry if I have offended anyone on here. That was never my intention. I haven’t said anything hateful or degrading about any of the other shops that are running. I respect all of you as artist and may the best man/shop win. As a customer of Matty’s I am very loyal, and when I am loyal to someone as a friend I can take things a little overboard. The last comment/comeback what ever you want to call it was all in good fun but in bad taste and anyone who knows me and reads it will know that I was just trying to make a joke out of a horrible comment that was made about myself. I’m happy that the artist themselfs are coming on here and pointing out how bad and disapointing a lot of people are behaving and that makes me have even more respect for you not only as artist but as down to earth human beings who are truly all about the artwork and not this so called prize/title. That’s the reason I came on this site in the first place, for the artwork and to support the artist and shop of my choice. I should have never made any comments back 2 the stupidity, that was just throwing fuel on an already raging out of control fire. My deepest and most sincere apologies to anyone who I might have upset with my words. In my mind the artist who have came on here and made decent remarks are already winners in my eyes. That might not mean much coming from someone who you don’t personally know, but do know that it is heartfelt. The best of luck 2 each and every one of you. Sorry for any disrespect. This will be my last comment, I will not be commenting back to any negativity. I have said what I wanted and ALL the guys at Peptide Tattoo already know I support and back them 100%. GooD LucK 2 all of YoU=) Keep doing what you’re doing

I do understand that everyone has an opinion whether good or bad and we have been lucky enough to not have any negative stuff about us on here. This is a small community of shops here and like I said in an earlier comment we all do the same thing, some better than others but we all started somewhere and I know the world doesn’t work in a way where everyone gets along but there are different ways to express opinions without finger pointing or insults. That’s where I personally get disapointed in all this and our industry should be better than that. But again the world doesn’t work that way I guess. Just gotta keep that P.M.A

I think some of the comments from the actual shop artists here show a soft and sensitive side to the tattoo industry, is this a good thing? IDK, maybe if your going in to get a tinker bell tattoo or some butterflies. But this is just my opinion and not any of the shops listed in this vote.

All of you do realize the only one really getting ahead here is ActiveDayton right? All the flame war crap just drives traffic to their site which is why they do this to begin with. Your favorite tattoo shop will get a blip maybe of promotion out of this, but the surge in traffic to this website keeps them getting paid through advertizing. So keep flaming one another but it seems just a bit silly.

I think who ever would win this award might advertise that they were voted the best as the past winner Peptide Tattoo Studio clearly does on its website. Peptide Tattoo Studio - Voted Best Tattoo Studio 2010 and 2011. What I dont understand about it is the comment by the owner of Peptide “If you want your shop to win this “paper award”, then I suggest doing what I’ve done…network!! If he just considers it a paper award then why does he advertise his shop as Peptide Tattoo Studio - Voted Best Tattoo Studio 2010 and 2011.

Those who commented the winner is just getting a piece of paper, and really weren’t the best are kinda right. Those with the biggest following throughout the year, and biggest clientele, doing the best work, and making the most green doing it are the real winners.

I wasn’t going to say anything on this forum, I just like to read all the trash talk. But, someone from another shop is making fun of a man with down’s syndrome (“the slasher”). They are clearly from a shop in the area or they wouldn’t know that he likes devil girls playing piano/organ. I don’t know which shop it is, but just know that someone who tattoos some of you get’s his kicks making fun of a nice guy who just happens to have a disability. I love Slashr and three of us at the shop have let him tattoo “Slashr” on us and more of us plan to if we have free time when he’s in. He love’s tattoos, and wishes he could be a tattoo artist. Be nice to him if you have a conscience.

I vote truth and triumph. The shop is not only like hanging out with all your buddies, but they are fun, funny, keep good conversation going but most importantly, they are the most unique artists all with there own special unique style to add to the world of art. I will never step into another shop as long as I am getting tattooed. I have never once been disappointed… i cant ever wait to go back..I like the fact that Brian has so many clever and outgoing ideas as to how to expand the shop by gear, contests, free art, i mean they rock…

Some of us have spent a great deal of our lives, pushing hard to put the negative regarding the industry to bed. Some still live in the stone ages, throwing rocks at their competition. I respect a great deal of artists in Ohio, and there’s a rich talent pool in the Cincinnati & Dayton areas, hence checking out the poll over the last few days. Then I see the comments that go along side of it all. What would you think if you stumbled upon this poll and really started looking at the comments, as a professional business person & tattoo enthusiast? Sure wouldn’t excite you about doing business, would it, or scheduling an appointment. Best of luck Dayton.

I think the main objective is to vote on the best shop, not the best artist, because how do you truly judge art? You cant! So which criteria should we be looking at when picking the best shop? Any ideas? I can think of a few. 1. location in relation to Dayton, 2. flexibility of shops, ie. do they allow walk-ins or how long are the wait lists, 3. Clean and organized work areas, 4. Talent of artist and range of work they can perform, these are just a few I can think of off the top of my head, any other opinions on what it means to be the best?

we have already been made aware of the fact that who ever is leading the poll is going to get the most crap talked about them. First is was Peptide now its Truth and Triumph. Well guess what! Ask the winner of the past two years of this poll what the award means to him? Nothing at all, its a piece of paper and active dayton is the only real winner here because of the increase web traffic. I think the clone idea is childish but you will get that when your on top!

looks like Matty and his minions are at it again, it is possible they are just mad because another shop has taken the lead. They are now trying to pretend to be from well known tattoo magazines. How do I come to this conclusion? Well when Don said Dayton Cincinnati area. Where is Peptide located? Carlisile, OH which is in between Dayton and Cincinnati. What Matty is trying to do is sad, he is trying to get readers of these comments to believe it is actually the owners and artist of the tattoo shops in this poll coming in here and posting negative comments. Also how do I know that Matty does things like this you may ask? Search Peptide tattoo on google and read the reviews on google. On Nov. 16th and 17th he had over 10 five star reviews on just those 2 days? Is this marketing or false advertisement? You be the judge!

I am obsessed with achievement, and the paths to winning circumstances. Obviously, I eat, sleep, and breathe, Truth & Triumph. It is my baby. Competitiveness is a natural part of the game of life, as is mudslinging. It’s not what has been done or said about you, it’s how you react to unfair and unacceptable behavior from others, that shows your true character, and ability to overcome and win against the odds. If a person says another shop other than mine is the best, they are entitled to their opinion like everyone else. Does this mean I wanna talk badly about that fan…..absolutely not. Will I keep pushing forward with my business, Webshow, Marketing, and international convention schedule????? Obviously, a person’s opinion of the “best” is going to be based on their personal experience. After wanting a tattoo for several years, I finally made the decision to just do it! I went to John Lloyd at Truth & Triumph and couldn’t ask for a better experience/artist. Although my tattoo is a very small and simple one, I was made to feel as important as any client getting a huge, full sleeve. He was very patient and understanding of my nervousness and didn’t make me feel rushed whatsoever. John, the owner (Brian), and another artist (can’t remember his name) were there. All three of them talked, joked, and made me feel very comfortable. Again, everyone is going to have their pick; however, to bash and make personal attacks toward another business in the industry just shows a total lack of class.

Why all the negativity? All artists are just that.. Artists… And entitled to interpret their work however they feel it looks best. I voted for krazy Katz because I love the work Eric vie has done for me, but I have friends that have gotten great work at other shops as well. Let’s just be happy we live in a town that has something for everybodys taste. At least we have enough shops to even be able to conduct a poll like this.
