I visited Michael’s for the first time and I had the most wonderful experience. Everyone was so friendly. Noel, the hair stylist did a fantastic job with my hair and I felt I finally found someone that knows how to cut my hair. Next time I am going to have her color it. On my way out I saw where they carry the makeup I wear, Jane Iredale makeup. Being new to town, I’m so glad I didn’t have to look far to find an upscale salon/spa. I highly recommend Michael’s.

252 West is very accomodating, the greeting you receive is unbelieveable, the cuts and colors are perfect, arrive a couple of hours early and get a brow wax, massage, or even see a Dr. for professional advice on wrinkle solutions, which by the way can be done at this amazing Salon.

As soon as you walk in the door of Michaels Salon and Spa… You know you are going to be taken care of! The front desk is very helpful and friendly. The stylist are all great! I have never had a bad one! I have been to Brian, Kristen, Allison and Abby and are all expectional and really care about their clients and the end result. As well as taking care of it at home. Jill and Samantha are also wonderful for eyebrows and nails. Please vote for Michaels Salon !! Put them on top where the belong!!!!!!

Getting your skin healthy is the easy part said Kara Clemens, esthetician with Salon Reveal located in Centerville Ohio, it’s sticking with the plan that brings life time results! She gave me the best advice & care for my skin I had ever had and her program delivered beautiful & younger looking skin!!! I owe all of my compliments to kara and I would refer her anyone & everyone!!!

Salon Reveal has a wonderful array of services, the staff are always pleasant and accommodating. I drive all the way from Indianapolis, IN so that my hair can be given that “extra” touch by Michael.

By Kim

January 10, 2012 5:50 PM | Link to this

People who think Michael’s is so great must have straight hair, because they are totally clueless when it comes to curly hair and when I complained, they walked me back in private room. I felt like I was being interrogated. I have tried to get some kind of apology for the way I was treated, but they aren’t interested so I just have to keep telling people how bad they are. They must enjoy all the bad press I’ve given them.

I’ve been going to Bellazio’s since it was Designer’s Loft on Dorothy Lane; literally, my whole life! I always have a wonderful experience. Steph is the only person I let touch my hair - Lorelei makes my color gorgeous - and Andrew is by far the best pedicure guy around! I’ve recommended them to all my friends and my BFF in Cleveland still comes down every few months to see Steph, too :) Since they’re not on a main drag, I think they’re a hidden gem, but I know lots more people would go there if they were more “known.”

Bellazio is by far the best salon in town. Stephanie, Andrew, Dena, the coffee bar, etc. Everyone is made to feel comfortable and pampered at the same time, with a mixture of professionalism and warmth. My 7 yr old son doesn’t even mind getting his hair cut when we go to “see all the pretty girls.” Square One can’t compete with Bellazio!

Love the concept! I deal directly with my stylist and get great service for a reasonable price ($35 for a color!) Full Circle Hair Design (or as I like to call her, my saviour Rae) is at the Beavercreek location. My whole family can afford to go: husband, two tots, and moi. She’s so great with the kids and I get great compliments at work. I also like knowing every dollar I spend goes to her. Love her!

Dear “KIM” Yeah yeah we got it, you don’t care for michaels salon seeing to your two posts about it. But I was new to town and my friend referred me there and I absolutely love everything about them! And while I was there I was looking through a magazine and it happened to be that MICHAELS SALON was voted in the top 10 salon in America. So to me that means they must be doing something right, right? So yes, Michaels salon should be voted best salon in Dayton. I will not be going anywhere else.

Finding a comfortable salon for a male is not the easiest thing to do. I have been to all of the formentioned salons and by far the best is BELLAZIO. The staff and the decor at Bellazio make every visit feel so inviting. I mean they do their absolute best to make every bit of your visit pleasureable…from the super sweet receiptionists to the coffee bar girls to the color and hair techs. I can also say that my wife has been to the spa side of the salon and said it was by far the best massage she has EVER had. The hair techs are so knowledgeable when it comes to product recommendation and usage…makes my life easier!

Salon Noir-hands down. They have the best stylists who specialize in ALL of the hottest trends, but still do the best at classic cuts as well. Whether you want to try something new and trendy or just finally want a perfect cut EVERY time you walk into the salon, Salon Noir is for you! The atmosphere couldn’t be better with a vintage decor and fun stylists. I’ll never go anywhere else!

I believe that BELLAZIO is truly standing out from all of the other salons I have ever been to. Everyone seems so interested in making you feel special from the moment you walk through their front door (and be honest, isn’t that what every girls wants?) Moreover, I had yet to find a hairstylist who could recommend the perfect hairstyle for me until I went to Bellazio. At last I got a hairstyle that really flatters my face, which is all down to a highly skilled hair designer. On top of that I received invaluable tips and advice on styling my curly hair. High skilled hair designers, warm and friendly people, out-of-this-world spa treatments and that under one roof. The Bellazio experience is one you want to come back to. They truly deserve to win!

Shortly after having surgery for pancreatic cancer ,while recovering my sister who lives in New York and myself went to Salon Reveal for a facaial with Kara Clemens. I had been given a gift cert. and needed something to lift my spirits. My sister and I had the most wonderful experience, Kara was so thoughtful of my lack of energy, and frailness that she pain special attention to the fact but without making me feel uncomfortable. My sister bragged to her daughters in New york that she had gotten the best facial ever in Dayton, Ohio. I would go there every day if i could.

Since I was young, my mother has taken me to Tari Huber at Michael’s Salon to do my hair. Nobody else has ever even come close to my head with scissors. After listening to numerous amounts of my friends complain about the work some hair stylist did on their hair, I realize nobody could come close to the work Tari does. I’ve been going to Michael’s for 18 years and plan to go for 80 more.

Bellazio is simply the best in any city in any state for excellence in all salon services. The owner, Jan Timmermans, has been in the Dayton area for 40 years and is truly the master of his craft.

Michaels is very welcoming, warm and definitely worth the price! I’ve been to over priced salons in the area and didnt get my money’s worth. I found michaels to be very fair and reasonable, it’s obvious they are well trained.

Michaels has the best training in town. I began my career at Michaels. But have since moved into a different career path. I could never trust anyone but MIchaels staff to work on me. They are Top of the Notch in hair, skin, nails, etc… They travel around the world to learn the hottest fashions and techniques. Their staff has never ending training…. Vote for Michaels and if you haven’t tried them, make an appointment or just walk in. You’ll be impressed the moment you walk through their doors.

I go to 2 salons. I get my hair done at Pure Elements Salon and at Square One in Centerville. I make last minute appointments so one of these places always gets me in…and they both do the most AMAZING jobs! SQ1 got my vote bc Pure Elements is in the running-too bad.

I AM SO SICK OF HEARING FALSE COMMENTS ABOUT MICHAELS SALON AND DAY SPA. AND I THINK IT IS FUNNY THAT THESE SMALLER SALONS ARE WINNING, CLEARLY SOMEONE IS CHEATING, AS I WAS TOLD THAT THERE IS A WAY TO CHEAT. MICHAELS HAIR SALON I BELIEVE IS THE BEST HAIR SALON IN DAYTON AND I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO GET BETTER CUSTOMER SERVICE ANYWHERE ELSE. EVERYTHING IS VERY PROFESSIONAL THERE. YES IT MIGHT BE MORE EXPENSIVE THEN GREAT CLIPS, BUT YOU DEFINATELY GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR. GO MICHAELS!!!!!!

I think the only thing that’s obvious is that a certain salon is getting jealous that they’re not what they think they are and that people know it. If some people have had good experiences there, good for them. I used to think Michael’s was great…when I FIRST went there, but it’s really not. Just because one person has had a good experience, doesn’t mean that everyone has. So it sounds to me like an employee who is defending their salon, not a true customer. Which if that is the case, nobody can take your word to be true. Being the best salon is not just about how big the place is or how long it’s been around. It’s about the whole experience. I prefer Urban Loft salon for the fact that all of the staff is down to earth and care about every one of their clients. They take the time to make sure every single one of us is comfortable. I have a relationship with almost every one of the employees there, even though I only go in to see one person. It’s a very welcoming place, with EXCELLENT service that I have never gotten anywhere else I’ve ever gone. I’ve visited a few different places on this list, and Urban Loft is by far the best I have experienced. Very well trained and experienced staff, with an always upbeat and friendly environment. Their priority is that everyone looks and feels great when they walk out the door. This is what has made them so successful.

By far the best Salon & Spa in the Dayton are is the “Urban Loft”, in Miamisburg, it’s so welcoming, warm and cozy. The staff are friendly and very professional and I wouldn’t want to go anywhere else. Jessica has done my hair for years and and couldn’t imagine losing her. She is the best and I love her : ) and Val and all the girls….

By Great job by all!

The fact that the two salons in first place (at the moment), both very wonderful places, happen to have two locations may make a difference, as that must mean there are more customers in various parts of town to vote. Any salon coming in third or fourth that only has one location should still be very proud of their showing in this contest, no matter who ultimately wins. Having loyal customers is a what everyone is after, and appreciating any good publicity is a must. I love all the positive comments about each salon, but I’ll overlook the divisive competitive spirit that sometimes takes over. I voted, and I LOVE the salon I go to, and I think as long as everyone appreciates this for what it is - a cyber show of support and good marketing - then everyone wins. Just have fun with it!

I lost 40 pounds over the course of 8 months and refused to get my hair cut differently until I had met my goal. I decided to let Michael’s make me over. I asked specifically for a stylist who understood curly hair and they assured me I was in good hands. I left the salon with chocolate brown hair after I had asked for light brown w/ blond highlights and had ended up with dirty looking dark red hair. They put the chocolate rinse on it to try to cover up the permanent color mess. The cut was also horrible and I was given bangs that were way too short because I have curly hair and it shrunk up. Fake comments? I don’t think so. I can provide a photo of the mess they made to anyone who requests it.

I was pleasantly surprised to try out Mark Philips for the first time. I saw an ad on their website that said they are accepting Hausfelds gift certificates at 50%. Thank God, because I had 2 of them ~$100. If you have any left over, take them to Mark Philips! I received excellent service and got exactly what I wanted, (even better than Hausfelds). Anyways, cheers! Hope this helps someone else too!

I have tried many a place to get my hair just right. It is somewhat a mess and most people do not cut it correctly. Michelle Tierney at Salon Ventures has finally solved the problem for me and I won’t go back to anyone else. I would highly recommend her for dealings with curly/thick/unruly hair within a few months of cutting and fixing we had my hair looking fabulous!! I am so glad I met her and started seeing her!

It’s great to see all the wonderful compliments from all the clients that go to the many great salons and service providers we have here in town. All of us in this industry entered this field because we are artists that LOVE to touch people’s lives in such a positive way. We are as lucky and think as much if not more of our guests as they do of us. It is an honor to be thought of so highly by any guest and speaks volumes about what happens when you get the chance to take care of someone. The “haircut” turns into a relationship that rivals traditional family and friends type relationships. Many client/stylist relationships last longer!! Here’s to a great 2012 where we all learn more, create deeper relationships and get inspiration from each other. The best to all of us!

I have had the privilege of working for Jan Timmermans, as a colorist, at Belllazio Salon and Day Spa for the last 15 years. With most of the staff being there just as long if not longer. I think there is something to be said for the fact that the staff rarely have any turnover, we feel the grass is the greenest where we are. We are the most educated, professional, warm and inviting full service spa in Dayton, without question. I love my BELLAZIO family, and am honored to work with such highly skilled professionals.

I would just like to say thank you so much Michael for dedicating your life to the education and success of our hairdressers, and giving us such a nice salon to work in. You and your staff have trained half the city and that is why so many salons try so hard to top us. I am so proud of my coworkers for not bad mouthing other salons and i know each one of the designers are thankful of all the wonderful compliments from this contest. Any negativity will only make us try harder and improve. Whether hair is straight or curly, I feel confident each coworker is trying their best to make that client happy. It is a team effort. We may not please everyone of them, but we sure try. In general all hairdressers are hard workers I hope you all are as happy at your salons as I am at mine!

Michael’s is a nice salon. Went there for years. With that said, will never step foot in that salon again after witnessing the persecution of staff that choose to leave. How a salon thinks they “own” their clients is beyond me. To be told that a stylist that has moved on to a different salon can’t do my hair any longer for fear of legal ramifications is so very wrong.

At Michaels we have profit sharing, health insurance, eye insurance , dental and great life insurance policy, and we are also an intercoiffure salon, meaning you are chosen to be in it and don’t buy your way in it. It is the top organizations and hair shows in the world. These are many of the benefits of working there. If you havent worked for us, theres always room for one more great hairdresser, if you have then good luck with your new choice. To respond to Honey. Ive never seen anyone persecuted for leaving and Ive been there a long time. Michael puts alot of time and money in the education of every designer and it gives them a name in the business. Clients are free to follow them wherever they go, when they find them. All people in this business know in the hair world it is proper etiquette to not steal well trained stylist from other salons. One of the top reasons that salon will never be chosen to be in Intercoiffure. Most of us always tell clients where one of our coworkers has chosen to relocate too. Sorry you didn’t have that experience. Michaels is alot of fun and challenging, but it is not for everyone. I wonder why people always brag when they leave that they worked at Michaels though. Does that make the client feel they are really good cause they worked at Michaels, or maybe cause they know they are well trained? We arent the most expensive salon in town or even the 2nd or 3rd, but I believe we are the most educated. Congratulations to the winner of this contest and to everyone else

After living in Southern California and Texas, I have had the opportunity to go to “big city” salons. Square One actually exceeds the results and services of urban salons consistently. After moving back, I was so encouraged to see a business of this quality thriving in Dayton, without the “snooty” factor. Major bonus: the salon is a huge supporter of local charities. I’ll be singing their praises!

I am happy to be part of a nominated salon. I think bashing is terrible. We have all had different experiences at different salons. Some good, some bad. I do think it comes down to the individual stylist. All of us are human and try to do our best work on our clients. The other difficult part is we all know someone at a nominated salon. Hats off to the salon that wins. I know I plugged and did my part for my salon. We all work hard and any recognition is wonderful!

You can really tell they care about their customers because of the care the put into getting the best products…. Jane Iredale skin care, Tela, and P2 by Pelusi. Incredible. Their Blow Out service leaves my hair shiny and actually repairs my hair! My color lasts longer and my hair is so much easier to style between visits.
