Lot of great choices. I voted for Coldwater Cafe in Tipp City. Great menu, try the ostrich filet. But Rue Dumaine deserves a plug, too.

Let’s all be sure to support our local, independent restaurants & not vote for “chains”. Give our unique area restauranteurs the credit they deserve!

@Sheri - Aren’t the “chains” employing local people in this area? there would be a lot of people out of jobs if it weren’t for “chains” which would impact even more the local economy. Chains are bad as they employee people. Melting Pot is a chain and it is an awsome place to go to!

Carver’s food is the best in Dayton. Their Lenten menu, for $20, really shows how to be special for the time. Other times their prime rib is the best around and the meal from salad to dessert is delicious.

@Active Dayton: Seriously? The category is “fine dining,” is it not? Some of these places have no place on this list, as delightful as their food might be!

We love McCormick and Schmick’s. Classy but not pretentious. Their Excutive Chef Jorgi has his own menu items on their menu. He is wonderful and loves coming out to talk to us when we come in.

Oops - there is The Winds, but where is Meadowlark? And Thai 9 is fine dining - huh?

The chains do not deserve a place on this list. Anne Kearney is twice nominated for the James Beard award, and PF Chang’s is listed alongside her Rue Domaine? Pathetic.

Seriously, Dayton?! McCormicks is leading? I hope my hometown knows better than that, we have some really good places….WAY better than McCormicks. Let’s recognize the places that do their OWN food, not what someone at a corporate office says they should serve

Did the Buckhorn move? I never thought that it was in an area considered to be Vandalia… if anything I would consider it to be in Englewood.

From start to finish, there is not a better place to eat in town then the Oakwood Club.
