Who came up with this list?? PF Changs? Flemmings?? Brio?? So you guys think “romance” and you go for the CHAIN places??? UMM how about the Oakwood Club or The Pine Club?? You didnt go with 2 of the most popular home town favorites. Whoever came up with this list needs a reality check

The Pine Club and the Oakwood Club are excellent restaurants but to say they are romantic, hardly. You can hardly hear yourself talk let alone think. Excellent food but if you want a quiet place to share a special moment then these aren’t that kind of place. Carvers or Meadowlark are better. Food and atmosphere are excellent at these two establishements.

I agree with Pine Club and Oakwood Club are not very romantic but have great food. the Melting Pot is an awsome place to go for Romance. They have private booths so no one else can see you at all so it feels like your own personal romantic spot. do the big night out there and get some Champagne! It take about 2 hours at least for the whole experience and its worth it!

At Coldwater Cafe, you are treated to an atmosphere both tasteful and comfortable. The booths offer a bit of romantic seclusion and the tables are situated with enough “elbow room” to provide some privacy also. While the menu is limited, there is something for every appetite. The kitchen and wait staff are experienced and know how to prepare and serve a delicious and memorable meal for that special occasion.

I love Coldwater Cafe. Rue Dumaine could also be considered romantic. I agree with the above submission regarding the chain restaurants.

Rue Dumaine has wonderful food to offer, but the tables are too close together for it to be “romantic”, at least in my mind.

All the restaurants on the list have something romantic about them, but some of them are one dimensional. Some have great food and some have a great ambiance. Let’s talk about a place that offers both, let’s talk about a restaurant where you can snuggle up to a loved one and have a nice glass or bottle of wine and enjoy good food in a romantic atmosphere. That’s at the wine!

Chain restaurants on this list? That’s pitiful. I have, however, visited several of the wonderful locally owned restaurants featured (after hunting good food down for months and months) and have had great experiences. Meadowlark and The Winds are favorites (just had an excellent meal at The Winds), but not particularly romantic in my book. I’ve heard wonderful things about several others on the list that I look forward to trying. My husband and I ate at La Piazza the evening we became engaged, so I may think of that one as more romantic than some ;)

I love McCormick & Schmick’s for a great romantic restaurant!!! My fiancee and I got engaged there. We sat in a private table with curtains sectioned off from the dining room, he had special menus printed with “I love you Sarah!” written across the page. And the staff completely helped him surprise me by having the ring in the center of a chocolate dessert and “Will you marry me?” written on the plate in raspberry sauce…. talk about romance?!!!! I will never forget that night!

I agree with most of the previous comments…wish there were more locally owned restaurants on the list, but honestly, when it comes to romance I gotta go with McCormick n Schmick’s…my wife and I were seated in one of their booths with the curtains…it was very private, we felt like celebrities. The food was incredible and the service impecible. I would suggest it to anyone looking to “woo” their someone special.

I vote for McCormick & Schmick’s because I too have been there and my husband and I were seated in a “snug” which is a private, curtained off booth! It was SO romantic! We went there to celebrate our anniversary and we will ALWAYS return because of how perfect everything was. The atmosphere, our server, entree, and especially dessert, were OUT OF THIS WORLD! you’ve gotta try this place if you really want romance :)

McCormick’s is the best place for a romantic dinner that I know of around here, and I’ve lived here for 12 years. On Valentine’s day, my wife & I had a wonderful dinner in their fire side room. The lights were dim and the fire made it perfect. They also had some sort of special where you could buy flowers through them and they would be placed on your table before you arrived. I was genuinely impressed and satisfied with everything about our trip to McCormick & Schmick’s!

I am not a big seafood eater, maybe Salmon, Shrimp or Crab. My wife loves their stuffed salmon. I usually get steak like a filet and shrimp combo. We are always treated great when we go there and enjoy the 1/2 price bottle if wines. I highly recommend going to M & S

Coldwater Cafe in Tipp City has a genuinely romantic atmosphere. Always a lovely experience each time we go.

McCormick & Schmicks is the perfect place for romance as well as any special occasion. They cater to romance especially for those looking for those tender moments..The Stuffed Salmon is one of the best dishes I’ve ever had..Brie, crab and shrimp in salmon,,,yummy

I really enjoy a lot of these restaurants, but since this is a “romantic” competition, it should go to McCormick and Schmick’s at the Greene because of their “snooks” (table with the curtain). If you’ve never been, make a reservation asap. You’ll be happy you did. Best food selection and service. Oh and if you go, ask for Molly, Noel, or Tiffany!

How do we justify chain restaurants on any list of fine dining in the Dayton area? Who goes to a Mall for a romantic getaway? I love small towns and small town service. Coldwater Cafe takes the prize hands down. Fresh home made meals, locally owned, call the chef by name, unique menu. Interesting things to do before or after in easy walking distance.

I voted for McCormick and Schmicks without a qualm. My first visit was with my son for UD parents weekend and our server, who was obviously very pregnant, was waiting on their “snugs.” On a very busy night she was courteous, knowledgeable, and able to serve without being intrusive. Although this wasn’t a romantic occasion, my wife and I have since been back often and will continue to return for any occasion romantic or otherwise.

I guess any dinner can be romantic for many reasons. Lighting can make a dinner romantic. Music, flowers, sharing a bottle of wine is romantic. But terrible seafood is not romantic. M&S is not good.

If you actually think M&S is the most romantic, then you will get to know each other in the bathroom due to gastrointestinal distress from this place. The food is by far subpar for a M&S. As for the atmosphere it is far from romantic … unless you find sitting on the patio, watching kids run around a fountain and waiting for a clown to make them balloon animals is your idea of a romantic dinner. Just go to Jim’s Donuts and sit at the counter… more romantic and better food.

Who wrote these reviews, the employees of M&S? Bad food, small quantities, loud atmosphere does not make a romantic place.
