Where is the Hickory on Brown Street? There are so many different ways to make barbecue that this poll is not going to be very accurate. Oh yeah, none of your polls are very accurate!

OinkaDoodleMoo is the best BBQ I have ever had. You can actually taste the smokey flavor in the meat. And all their sides are homemade. And I mean truly homemade with their own secret recipes. The atmosphere is great and everyone is really friendly. You gotta try it!!

oinkadoodlemoo, Has the best BBQ, that I have had in a LONG time…and with the second location, on Far Hills, by Town & Country, it’s very easy to get it any time !!

Are you out of date? Why only list the Englewood location for Oink—best sides in town. I even buy quarts of their corn pudding for special dinners. Great service in Kettering and very friendly

I personally do not like Oinkadoodlemoo, honestly, all they have going for them is a good name, the only flavor you taste is the smoke, meat has flavor on its own, apparently Oinkadoodlemoo doesn’t believe that

Our family has tried several BBQ’s, but we have enjoyed Oinkadoodlemoo the best. Each of us like the different meats they have to offer, one goes for brisket, another for pork, another for chicken, and another for ribs. We love the homemade flavor of the sides, baby backers to green beans. We have used their catering on 3 occasions, having been an excellent experience on all counts.

What kind of BBQ poll is this? NO Hooks? NO Huffies? NO Shields? They DO realize there is BBQ on the West Side of the River, correct? Shameful that these 3 Family-Owned, Dayton Legacy restuarants that have all been open for well over 30 years, (EACH!) are not included in this poll.

@Crystal— There was a nomination period. No one nominated them. Probably speaks for itself. So does their urbanspoon rating— all very low compared to the ones listed in this poll.

Ate there today! I had chicken and pork without the bun & it was delish! I love the little bakers-potatoes, a side that is so good with their mild sauce! Third visit there, clean place including the restrooms, friendly staff. The best in the Dayton area!

Oinkadoodlemoo has nothing on Company 7!!!! The BEST BBQ I have had. The flavor is phenomenal - and they don’t have to cover it with tons of sauce. You put your own on ~ if YOU want to. And its a great place to eat at! Great atmosphere! Just what Dayton needed! A GREAT place to eat BBQ!!

Company 7 is AMAZING!! Everything from the meats to the sides to the facilities is top notch. During lunch & dinner, and often all day long, the parking lot is packed. That says something right there. So glad the owners choose to support our area.

Oinkadoodlemoo is the most amazing barbeque i have ever had! Nothing can even come close to comparing to it. The meat is full of flavor, everything is homemade and the sides are to die for! I have never been to a place where i LOVE every single thing on the menu! I have tried it all, including the sauce. It’s not very often that you find a funny name, laid back fun atmosphere, and great food all in one! Me and most people i know eat there all the time, and it never gets old! Company 7 has NOTHING on oinkadoodlemoo! They will go far!

Company 7 has the most amazingly tender, flavorful meats served “naked” so you can add your own blend of all the sauces. Only GREAT meat can stand on its own, great atmosphere, tremendous sides and a full bar. Company 7 is BBQ done RIGHT!!!

Oinkadoodlemoo is hands down the BEST barbeque you’re going to find anywhere. I am really serious about this. Have you ever tried their sides? My mouth waters as I think about it. Their burnt ends are out of this world. I can’t even begin to describe the taste of this treat. MMMM, it is absolutely delicious. Their staff is friendly and the concept is brilliant. I am always satisfied with my experience at Oinkadoodlemoo.

The taste is the best by far. My favorite is the brisket tips covered in slaw. I used to drive from Xeniajust to eat there, but I moved to West Milton. Less money on gas leaves more for Oinkadoodlemoo.

I love BBQ, and am hard to please. But there is now a clear winner in the Dayton area: Company 7 blows the competition away. REAL BBQ in a great atmosphere. You should not vote unless you have tasted ALL the leaders. Many are good, Company 7 is by far the best.

We ate at Company 7 BBQ and were really excited about a new restaurant. By far the worst we have ever eaten. Bread muffins dry, Ribs were overcooked and like shoe leather, the sausage was overcooked. The potato salad tasted like vinegar or spoiled, and mashed potatoes terrible. Not one thing was good We were so very disappointed. Smokey Bones, Buckhorn Tavern & Old Hickory House is better than this we will never go back to this place. We don’t mind spending money on good food, almost $30.00 we could have had much better food elsewhere for this type of food.

When it comes to BBQ there’s Baumbach’s and then everyone else. The BBQ chicken, brisket and pork are all superb everytime and then complimented with an excellent choice of sides and a unequaled selection of ICE FREAKING COLD BEER in a frosted mug. This all together will blow your mind and I’m not just blowing BBQ smoke, see for yourself

I don’t see how Oink is #2. I’ve eaten there once, and could barely choke down my sandwich. The same goes for the rest of my family. Those 260-something votes for oink must be due to the voters’ fingers slipping off of the “Company 7” button. Heck, even Smokey Bones is better than Oink. It’s just plain lousy.

Last night was the first time I’ve ever has the chance to eat at the BB Shack. My Son took me out for a Mother and Son quality time Celebration in honor of Christmas. We were totally blown away on how great it was. Everything we ordered was to the up most quality. All the variety of barbecue sauces and the rolls the cinnamon butter was to die for. I was very pleased with our hostess and the clean surroundings and warm atmosphere. So all I can say to this Carson person is you must live on Fast food junk, because this was the best barbecue I’ve ever eaten. And it is smoked, besides pork is the other number one beef. So there!!!!!!!!!!!!

Great place for a fun night with friends. I lived in Texas for a while and this even rivals the Lonestar state’s finest! Furthermore, the atmosphere is fantastic, the bar has an incredible beer selection, and the food is outstanding. The owners truly care about the patrons as they make it a point to talk to them and ensure good food/times are had by all. A+.

Company 7sides are amazing, you can taste the homemade. But the meats, OMG, absolutely melt in your mouth with incredible flavor. I have been there 6 times in 2 weeks, and every time has been wonderful. Great folks, beautiful facility, welcoming atmosphere and great food. I am a BBQ fanatic, and have been most everywhere on this list , other good places too but Company 7 is best by a mile.

Company 7 has literally the best ribs I have ever tasted. Everyone at our table, we had eight, raved about their dinner last week. Been eating BBQ all my life. Have been all over the country eating it. BBQ is so different from place to place. We have a lot of great Q in Dayton. Some of these comments are harsh. I love OinkADoodleMoo! Think City and Baumbachs do a great job. You may even catch me at Smokin’ from time-to-time. Company 7 was good as well. Some of these comments seem territorial…like someone was put up to writing them.

Of the places I have tried… Buckhorn- I think of steak not a BBQ restaurant. Woody’s- wasn’t very enjoyable, much better BBQ options. Hickory River- significantly underrated on this poll, very good BBQ, nice side choices, only 3 sauce choices though (mild, mixed, and hot). Oink-a-doodle- descent BBQ, horrible side choices (no fries, cheap potato chips), fun name. Company 7- New restaurant that has a few opening jitters to get through, food tastes great, great sauce options (recommend the Tangy and the Smokey sauces), great sides, but food has been a little on the cool side. City BBQ- Overrated chain restaurant. Of all the places I enjoy Hickory River BBQ or Company 7 the best, both are worth a trip to try.

We just love City BBQ- we have tried the Oink along with #7 and by far they know what they are doing. From what I taste Oink is no good the pork must be a week old- We expected a lot from Company 7, oh was an expesive disappointment. you expect some issues the first couple of weeks but the food was not able to be eaten. I will stick with my old favorite City Barbeque. The brisket is the best anywhere, and how can you beat the corn pudding.

Our family doesnt vote on these things under normal conditions however after reading some of this hog wash I needed to comment- Oink a doddle moo has to be the worst BBQ I have ever personally tasted, the day it opened we stood in line to try & said we would never return, but we did tonight with the same results just bad food cold, old, by grumpy employees. We liked a couple of items at company 7 but you sure can tell these folks dont have a clue on how to run a restaurant. The ribs looked good but I had to beat them with a whip to get them to respond. Its a shame these restaurants employees have gotten on here to vote for themselves- but these things are always bogus.

I compete on the KCBS circuit. I’ve seen OinkADoodleMoo win and for good reason. They serious about the Q, and have been around long enough to learn some secrets. I am one of the owners of Company 7 (up front admission). We are dedicated to the best in BBQ, and proud of the product we provide. We have worked hard to make it the best possible, and we know many LOVE it. But BBQ is a big tent, we all tend to care for one another within the BBQ community. There can be more than one good BBQ business in Dayton, more power to good BBQ. And thanks to all of you that care about BBQ. We have been in business only two weeks, we look to be here for you for quite a while. I wish all the good BBQ operators could win, we love them all and we love our customers for all their support. Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and God Bless.

Love ODM; meats, sauces, sides, dessert, staff and owners. I don’t particularly care for brisket, but I’ve had Mark’s many times only because it is melt-in-your-mouth good. Stop the @#$, ed/mad customer who posted the same thing many times. You obviously work for someone on the list other than Company 7 and they are the ones to beat. Let the people vote. I have been to Company 7 four times now, neither I or the people around me waited long for food, and there was always someone there to help. Are you saying Company 7 should force everyone into a line or a waited table, and not let us choose?? Don’t be so transparent and let the people vote. Company 7 is best bbq in town, and really classy people from what I can tell. Great food!

Company 7 ribs and brisket were the best BBQ that my husband and I have ever tasted, and we pursue BBQ wherever we go. Huge portions so we thought we would have lunch tomorrow but it was so good, we ate it all. I guess we will have to go back. Some of the few negative comments on here about Company 7 are so divorced from reality, it makes me think that competitors are posting them. Al F is right, let the people vote, you do yourself no favors trashing good bbq when people can go taste it for themselves and find the truth. Besides the people at Company 7 were beyond nice.

Company 7 food is AWESOME, we have been there 3 times so far. Ate at bar, ate at a waited table.went through line…all good. Fantastic choice of beers, I think 12 or 14 on tap alone. Fun people, great atmosphere. Best restaurant in the area by a mile. Kids can play in game room where you can see them but not hear them really.

Company 7 ribs are to die for, my kids loved the kid-style cheesy mac and cheese, My wife went for the meatloaf. Sorta crowded right at dinner time but flowed quick and people were so nice. Kids whiled away the time in game room. Everyone loved their meal and the experience. Better than any other BBQ in town.

Bill and Mary Grilliot and their kids own Company 7. Know them for years, really wonderful and professional people. They are a class act, and like normal for them, have done this up RIGHT! I have been 3 times, yes it can get crowded at peak times but the wait has always been well worth it. Best darn BBQ I have ever tasted, loved the smoked turkey. I have sampled BBQ everywhere and this is the best. Oh, and the guy above who thinks $50 will make you a certified BBQ judge is a flaming idiot. But I think we all know, by his tone, he must work for a competitor.

I have been to Company 7 twice, and going back tonight. Unbelievably good food in a great setting and the staff is wonderful. Everyone says try the meatloaf, or pulled pork or turkey or sausage, it is so good. But you know what, those ribs are so great I just keep getting them. Love to have the six sauces at the table to experiment with and make up my own “blend”. You can taste the from scratch preparation in everything.

In order of preference of the ones I have been to; #1 - Engine 7, #2 - Smokin (I like the atmosphere), #3 City BarBq, #4 Smoky Bones, #5 Oink, #6 Hickory River, #7 original rib in Vandalia. Still want to try the others but for now Engine #7 is my favorite.

Great we have two strong contenders. I went to Oinky last night and just left Company 7. Enjoyed both, but Company 7 was the full experience. Both had good food, but Company 7 had awesome food. Loved all the private recipe sauces, the wider menu, the full bar and tons of beer choices. Staff at Company 7 was really humping yet still friendlier than at Oinky. If Company 7 is busy go to Oinky, they are very good but Company 7 is the defining BBQ experience. Great to have two good choices, I had a fun two nights. I will be back at Company 7 soon, but if backed up will go to OMD.

@T, you clearly misunderstood what I said (not to mention what you said is a tad ironic, but I’m not here to pick a fight). I’m saying that there are several places whose food I would consider voting for based on my experiences, but customer service plays a large part in that. I prefer my dinner without religion as a required side, and their “Chick-Fil-A philosophy” chant comes across as pretentious. Also, one of the guys in their TV ad needs to learn to look at the camera when reading his simple lines, but that’s just funny. I still eat at ODM occasionally. I just don’t as often as I would considering above. I haven’t tried Company 7 yet, just been too busy with the holiday season, but they’ve been on my list for awhile. If they’re as good as the poll is making it seem, I might just drop ODM altogether.

Had a great meal at Company 7 tonight. I had ribs and brisket, oh my goodness, I could hardly decide which to take a bite out of next. I had fried apples and baked beans that were amazing. My girlfriend had the banana pudding, we were to share but she liked it so much I just got a few bites. It was great. She had the ribs and agreed they were amazing. Everyone was talking about how great it was. Fun, friendly place with GREAT food and good atmosphere. They said, come January, they will start doing happy hours, promos and special events…this will be part of my weekly life. For all the food they provide, I get dinner and leftover lunch for a heck of a good price. Really, really nice people. I hope and feel they will be a huge success, they sure try hard.

I have become a regular, I love their food and nice people. But where was the cute blonde with rocking body tonight, I love to watch her working the door. I must be getting old, I took solace in how good the food was.

In the last week, I’ve eaten at the new Company 7 BBQ and OinkaDoodleMoo in Englewood. BOTH offer true delicious BBQ - better than any I’ve had in years!! The atmosphere and decor of Company 7 is nice but both offer amzingly good food. Please try BOTH before voting. OinkaDoodleMoo deserves serious consideration! WOW!

For those that are complaining about your places not being on here, DID YOU NOMINATE them? If not, then shut up. It’s not a DDN conspiracy against the west side. SMH

Company7 bbq is amazing! They not only have the best bbq around their side dishes are wonderful as well. The atmosphere is very cool and the service was super friendly! I like that they have 2 choices of dining options and the game room. Only been open a short while but give it a try- you will not be disappointed!

Company 7 BBQ is amazing. I have had the ribs, brisket, pulled pork and meatloaf so far, and each was the best preparation I have ever had of that meat. And the sides are amazing, the sweet potato souffle was wonderfully sweet, the green beans were home made good. Oinky is good, but Company 7 is far far far better. Great atmosphere and you can have one of about 50 beers if you want, they have a full bar.

Ate at Company 7 last, probably the best BBQ any of us had ever tasted. I love 6 sauces on the table so we could all try each. High high quality meats AND sides. Nice place with super nice staff. No one else on this list is in their league.

Over the years I have watched this bogus blog & so called favorite pick. I wonder how many of there folks are not employees of friends of the owners. I’m personally a KCBBQ judge, I’m embarrassed that two new BBQ places in my home town are acting like this. Personally I will not go back to either just because of this forum. Why in the world would the owner get on here and talk ablout his own place? You should be making sure the food is perfect- you both have a long way to go- shut up, take care of your guest if you have any left after this farce. Neither of you are in the top 20 of anything, you dont come close- your paying way to much time with this media BS rather than time making it right. Remember your in Dayton Ohio- my home town- your both a embarrasment to KCBBQ- and what the true meaning of the socity was to bring to the table grow up! stop the madness Jimmy V

Company 7 BBQ is by far the best BBQ in town! The “Grilliots” truly take pride in everything they do! I disliked BBQ until I visited Company 7. The “Firefighter Sweet” - A sweet Memphis style BBQ sauce is by far my favorite, over their amazing ribs. We plan to visit soon and the great thing is, they have a drive thru with quick service!!!

Thanks JeriLe-I have hugs for you and Carl when you are next in. Jimmy B- My husband and I own Company 7 (with our children) I agree that there has been some campaigning on this site, but not from us and people see through such actions. My husband and I are both also certified KCBS judges, and will always be dedicated to the best and purest standards in BBQ. Merry Christmas!

Mary, you and your family should be very proud of what you’ve done. I’m not a certified judge, buy I am a fan. My wife and I both work 7 days a week and Company 7 has been a blessing to our dinner plans. You’ve earned best in Dayton hands down.

Jimmy V… Perhaps you should have paid closer attention in English class. The only embarrassment here is you and your pitiful use of the language. By saying “there” do you mean “their?” How about using “you’re” instead of “your” and I think you meant to say “too” instead of “to.” ‘Tis better to keep your mouth shut and let people think you are an idiot rather than open your mouth and prove them right.

This poll is such a joke, company 7 was horrible at there on Thursday, and then I come to vote and see that their owner was so obbsessed to win that she had to advertise on the site as well. Congrats on failing the community Mary g.

I’m a long time fan of City BBQ. Will continue to patronize them. Glad to have OMD & Company 7 join the fray. And yes, I’ve even enjoyed a good chopped pork sandwich at Hook’s. After 1 visit to Co. 7 and 2 visits to OMD I had to vote for Co 7. OMD in Kettering, like City BBQ seems to cook their meat elsewhere. This may take a bit away from the experience. And OMDs Mac&Cheese tasted, uh, Kraft-like, nothing like the delightfully creamy Mac&Chz at City BBQ. I can’t wait to get back to Co. 7. The meal I had there was some of the best BBQ I’ve had. I’m no expert but I do seek out and have eaten some very fine Q in Memphis, KC, Mississippi. My thanks goes out to all the fine purveyors of BBQ in the Dayton area.
