Bunkers has only 22 on tap? Chappy’s has about 40 beers on tap, as well as about 140 beers in bottle. If you have never been, the beer menu is about 10 pages.

Bunkers is a hole in the wall and their draft beer is always flat, the service is terrible, the chicks are ugly and they always spam this message board and its annoying, anybody but forever Bunkers never.

I have to say, I’ve been to both Chappy’s and Bunkers and Bunkers is definitely the better bang for your buck! They have great food (reasonably priced) and good draft beer (plenty of options), while Chappy’s is a little over-priced and the food…well, not as good as Bunkers. Both are great hang-out joints with good beer options, but Bunkers will definitely always give you good food, good beer, and for a good price!

The Pub… haha. That place is low on charm and the beer selection is just better than Pizza Hut. I think they deliver an experience just about as enriching as shopping for pants at Sears. Why do people like it?

Chris, you must work for a competing bar. Since you can’t stir the patrons with a stick, the Pub is obviously doing something right.

So who are you voting for Chris…? over 100 beers at The Pub, not a bad choice and a packed house almost every night is a pretty good indication that they’re doing something right. Apparently it’s Chris who is pretty low on charm..what’s the problem mate not enough Natty light on offer…

What is the Pub doing….? we have over 450 Mug Club members a whole lot of friends and a place that’s larger than most places in Dayton, no need to cheat. Stop by and see the sort of numbers we get thru the doors before you start slinging around unfounded and untrue accusations.

This poll is about the choice of beers on offer not how authentic you think the pub is, the voters already placed them 1st for ‘Best Bar’ in Dayton and FYI there is no plastic at the pub, it’s mostly wood (about $1 million worth)…stick to beer choice and leave your ego at the door.

The Pub is a joke. No beer enthusiast would consider it to be the best beer bar in Dayton, or anywhere else. Sure they have a high number of beers but they’re all pretty generic examples of “craft” beer. Places like South Park Tavern and even Chappy’s destroy the selection, and they actually rotate a large portion of their taps. Why is Norton’s on here? It’s not even in business anymore.

Edit: Just read that Norton’s re-opened near the Fraze, so nevermind about that…

I think the best beer selection has got to be Archers Tavern. Archers doesn’t have the most variety but I certainly think they have the BEST variety. If you really enjoy good, hard to find beer Archers Tavern is the place to go.

The negative comments about Nortons were not from me, I’ve never been in the place, the old or the new one. It seems like someone is trying to stir a little trouble up. There are a lot of great places for beer on this list, Chappy’s, Peaches, Trolley Stop, Boston’s to name a few of my personal favorites but it’s all about letting people vote for themselves. Lets keep this positive folks.

There’s no place like Bunkers for a beer after a hard day. Whether it’s something new on tap or an old favorite, you’ll enjoy the cold brew with a staff that values your patronage and wants you to enjoy your time with them! And the food ain’t bad, either.

We found Chappies through a friend and we absolutely love it. The beer selection is phenomenal and the food is great. Especially the broasted chicken, which is marinated for 24 hrs. The Southwestern Tortilla soup is delicious…cream based with lots of flavor. Overall, it’s just great!

I can’t believe how low class so many people on this board are. Doesn’t matter where you like to drink your beer, it is a matter of opinion…mine happens to be The Pub because it not only has the best beer selection, the atmosphere is superb to the rest. I personally like their food too.

It appears that some can’t play by the rules, a particular waitress is posting on MySpace, Facebook and Twitter, to vote for her restaurant, even if you have never eaten or drank there. The Pub/Beavercreak.

The Rules say - Put it on signs, coasters, tatoos or menus — everyone should know how good you are…it says cheating is using an automated voting system. I think you’ll find that hitting up your friends via Facebook, Myspace and Twitter is OK. Maybe she just has a lot more friends that others.

Their should be a category for the worst bar in town. That would be Norton’s hands down. Their customer service sucks and the bartenders aren’t very service oriented. I had my wife’s 60 birthday party their which I reserved the room 2 mos in advance. I paid for the food a week before the event. Come to find out the bartender double swiped my card causing my account to be debited twice. My account was reimbursed but not until the bank assessed me an overdraft fee. After the event I talked to the owner who told me he doesn’t handle FOH duties. The manager refused to even listen to what I had to say. In fact, she told me that Norton’s never reimbursed me, my bank did. On the day of the event my set-up people arrived to find out the room we had reserved 2 mos in advance was getting set-up for another party after ours. So we had to use the area and stage where the band plays. They also informed us they didn’t think they would have the food ready in time. They put the food and cake on high top tables which each person had to reach up instead of reach down to serve themselves. The real kicker came when they told us 30 mins before our time was up they need to set the room up and rushed us out. The band had their equipment on the floor waiting to use the stage where tables were set up. If everyone had attended as planned, the party would have spilled over into the adjoining area past the partition. As a side note, the Fraze has at least 2,000 people attending a show and customer service is paramount to the guests. Norton’s can not accomodate 50 people. The party was in July and I have yet receive a response, reimbursement or anything. I hope they were able to hold on to the business that the Fraze afforded them during the season.

ARCHER’S Tavern has made a real art of serving their special beers. I have been with many friends at Archer’s Tavern in Centerville since they opened this year. They follow a special process to tripple rinse their beer glasses and the way they pour beer for the best taste. It’s friendly, great food and now our favorite place to visit in the entire Dayton area! By the way, it’s also a great place for the whole family—not just beer lovers!

Just for the record. The pub doesn’t hold a candle to Chappys. If you know anything about beer you know Chappys has a much better beer selection on hand at any time, not even counting the rotating draft selection.

Unless you have been to every bar on the list, how can anyone say their choice is the “best” at anything… The whole vote for your “favorite” is joke and proves nothing. And since opinions are like a*hles, everybody has one. I might as well give mine. My favorite bar is at my house…

The Dublin Pub has the best pints, hands down. However, being an Irish Pub they’re not going to win this due to lack of variety. ‘The Pub’ certainly wins on atmosphere…short skirts and knee high socks/stockings.

It sounds to me like the people that are talking about all the cheating they think is going on know exactly how it can be done, so maybe you are the people that are cheating. Chappys has a lot of loyal customers since day one which now is going on 3 years. This establishment has put in a lot of blood sweat and tears and many hours to make of go of this local restaurant. All the decor, paint, etc had to be decided because this building was gutted. They weren’t handed a million plus dollars to have a chain be built by a group of contractors and everything all set up for them. Chappys makes on the food from scratch and the beers are selected by a great group of people that know there beers and they are not dicated to as what is going to be served at Chappys. Chappys has 4 wonderful owners and not a big corporation, so I’m thinking you are going to be getting better service and food at Chappys because this is there lively hood. It’s very sad that there are so many people out there that are nasty and hateful over a beer tasting contest.

I have tried a lot of the places on this list and while most of them are very good, Chappy’s has something special that sets it apart from the rest. I am very happy that they won. And I believe fully that they 110% deserve this title. I frequent Chappy’s along with MANY of my family, friends, and co-workers. I have done everything from carry-out to hosting a private party there, and have NEVER been disappointed. Chappy’s is top notch and Dayton should be proud to have a bar of this caliber. For those of you complaining and pointing fingers, you might want to try Chappy’s and see for yourself why they won. I’m not “slamming” the bars you voted for… maybe you should mature and return that courtesy.

All of the other bars are great dont get me wrong but Chappys is truely great. Do you even know how many beer club members they have there alone? Last time I asked they had about 1,000. My husband and I being two of them, not including our friends, family and co-workers. And if people are thinking I work there no I dont Im just a customer. I keep coming back bc of course their amazing beer selections (pump-king is my favorite at the moment) and they have great customer service. They make you feel like your family which is really nice. I would just like to say to Chappys… Congrats on all the hard work and thank you for such great customer service! Keep up the great work!

Yes Chappy’s is a very nice bar, however there are a lot of people that have been watching the voting that witnessed some very, very odd voting from them, when they had been behind for most of the week and then 15 or so votes in the last few SECONDS to leapfrog the other place.

Folks, all of this is done in the name of good fun and promoting establishments which carry great beer. I have visited a fair few of the places on this list, had experiences that ranged from phenomenal to horrific. But all that aside, I’m delighted that here in Dayton, we have an ever-increasing number of venues to choose from when we want to enjoy a pint of amazing beer. The Pub, Chappy’s, Archer’s, Tank’s, and more… it’s awesome that so many places are taking notice of the options out there these days, and making them available for beer lovers. Cheers, and I’ll be around… to all of them. No winning title necessary. :)
