This is a bad question. Should state “What is the best PUBLIC course in Dayton”. Best golf courses in Dayton are NCR and Moraine.

agree, NCR is the best course by a very wide margin followed by Moraine and Dayton CC. All 3 have tremendous greens. Probably Yankee Trace on the public side. Community is also nice.

Yankee is def. the best public course around. Maintained like a private course.

Madden is the best in Dayton to be public owned, and if money is a factor a bargain. Also woman friendly.

If Y.T. is the best why does it cost almost as much as NCR S.C. another semi private, that can’t make it.

The BEST public in the area is Moss Creek. Yankee is the same stuff every day and you can “master” it fairly quick. It’s maintained well but also has a lot of idiots running around like they are “members” give Moss Creek a shot you will be impressed…awesome staff too!

Moss Creek does have a lot of character but the rude staff and poor maintenance (sand traps full of rocks) is why few people play it. Hara Greens should be on the worst list. My vote is Windy Knoll.

Yankee is well kept. But, it’s only affordable during twilight hours. I can walk Kittyhawk or Community twice for less than a single round at Yankee.

NCR South is the best private course hands down. Yankee Trace is the best public course. Anyone who thinks YT can be “mastered” doesn’t live on the 4th hole witnessing OB shots all day.

Yankee is probably the nicest course on this list, but it is very affordable to play at some of these others. When it comes to my kids playing, I take them out to Kittyhawk. It is only $5 for my sons to play the par three course. And for all of you who have never played the kitty, its one of the toughest par three courses around.

We are so lucky to have such a long list of oustanding courses to pick from. YT, Beavercreek, Community, Moss Creek, Windy Knoll .. and many of the others are GREAT. The private clubs..Dayton, Moriane, CCN, and NCR are outstanding. I am just grateful that I have such a selection in my backyard! We golfers are very lucky here in the Dayton region.

Moss Creek just jumped up to #1 on my list. They did a bunker renovation with all new sand and a new design to many of the bunkers. Once the grass grows in to the newly seeded areas it is going to look great. I love this course and you cant beat the price.
