Bombeck Writers’ Workshop signup set

More than 350 beginners and professionals are expected to sign up for the University of Dayton’s 2012 Erma Bombeck Writers’ Workshop on April 19-21.

Past workshops have always “sold out,” sometimes in just days.

Online registration begins at noon on Tuesday, Dec. 6. Fee is $375. Scholarships for 35 UD students will be available beginning in January 2012. Sessions will take place on the UD campus. Dinners will be at the Dayton Marriott Hotel, 1414 S. Patterson Blvd., Dayton.

Original ”Saturday Night Live” writer and multiple Emmy Award winner Alan Zweibel will give the keynote talk.

Other featured presenters will include: Jeff Zaslow, Wall Street Journal columnist and best-selling author of “The Last Lecture”; novelist Adriana Trigiana, whose books include the bestseller “Big Stone Gap”; Gina Barreca, author of “It’s Not That I’m Bitter: How I Learned to Stop Worrying About Visible Panty Lines and Conquered the World,” and Ilene Beckerman, author of “Love, Loss and What I Wore.”

The workshop is co-sponsored by UD’s National Alumni Association, the College of Arts and Sciences, National Society of Newspaper Columnists, Greyden Press, the Dayton Marriott and the Erma Bombeck Writers’ Workshop Endowment.
