6 shows judged best at DayTonys
Six area productions were honored as the best of the 2010-11 season during the annual DayTony Awards Saturday, Aug. 13, at Sinclair Community College’s Ponitz Center.
Playhouse South’s production of “A Piece of My Heart,” Epiphany Lutheran Church’s staging of “Seussical” (the “Whoville” cast), “Southern Comforts” by the Young at Heart Players and “Precious Heart” by the Dayton Theatre Guild were honored as outstanding overall in community theater.
Cedarville University’s “Hello, Dolly” and Sinclair Community College’s musical “Once Upon This Island” were rated the year’s best shows in college theater.
Four new members were inducted into the Dayton Theatre Hall of Fame: theater supporters Lois and Don Bigler, director Doug Lloyd and designer, board member and volunteer Carol Finley.
Numerous other awards were presented to actors, directors and designers during the annual banquet.
