Film director sets Dayton workshop
Film and television director Tom Logan will lead a three-day training workshop July 8-10 at Act Out Talent Studio, 534 E. First St., Dayton.
The studio is directed by Kelechukwu “Chu” Oparah, who opened it earlier this year in the former Pontecorvo Ballet School near the Dayton Dragons’ Fifth Third Field.
Oparah, who offers classes there in acting, singing, modeling and more, said he hopes to train people for opportunities in the burgeoning Ohio film industry.
“Most of those jobs are going to Cleveland, Columbus and Cincinnati right now. There’s no reason Dayton can’t be part of that. There’s plenty of talent here. The only drawback is that people aren’t trained. There are opportunities in film, commercials, voiceover work and more,” he said.
Cost for the three-day workshop with Logan is $184 in advance, or $25 for the opening lecture only, and $169 for the two-day training intensive. If openings remain, those costs at the door will be $209, $189 and $30.
Enrollment will be limited to 26.
Logan formerly headed the acting departments at both the American Film Institute and the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, West. For more information about the course in Dayton, go to www.actouttalentstudio.com or call (937) 719-1112.
Act Out has also scheduled a training session with casting consultant Paul Weber on Sept. 10.
