Clooney film started in Dayton
“The Ides of March,” the film George Clooney is currently filming in the Cincinnati area and at Miami University in Oxford, has previous Ohio connections.
The screenplay is based on the political drama “Farragut North,” by New York playwright Beau Willimon, which had its premiere at the Dayton Playhouse’s 2006 new play festival Futurefest. It won the best of festival prize that year.
The play was later produced off Broadway.
Besides Clooney, who is also directing, the film’s cast includes Ryan Gosling, Marisa Tomei, Evan Rachel Wood, Paul Giamatti and Philip Seymour Hoffman.

TweetDoobies to play Fraze
Fraze Amphitheatre has booked the Doobie Brothers for an 8 p.m. concert on Tuesday, Aug. 30.
Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. March 12. Prices are $50 for plaza seating, $40 for orchestra and $30 for lawn and terrace. There’s a first-day limit of four tickets per person.
Known for hits including “Listen to the Music,” “Black Water,” “China Grove,” “Jesus Is Just Alright,” “Long Train Runnin’” and “Rockin’ Down the Highway,” the group born in 1970 last played the Fraze in 2007.
